In Bruges A
Have to say, complete coincidence that's 3 Focus Features films in a row for me... I laughed at the title credit.

Just caught ‘You Were Never Really Here’. It was.... fine? Great score, well shot, great acting but don’t expect anything exciting. This is a *super* art house film and it drags ass at parts. 6/10. Definitely didn’t meet my expectations and I must admit I don’t really get the praise.

The Mummy (1932) - 8/10. Good monster flick. Karloff is fantastic.

Brainstorm I liked it better than most. In the right mood 8/10 Chemistry between leads Natalie Wood and Christopher Walken lifts it.

No Country for Old Men. FINALLY rewatched it for the first time since I was like 13. Not sure on a rating yet, I have to sleep on it. But wow, what a film to end spring break.

The Grand Budapest Hotel 6/10. It’s fine. Might be the only Anderson that I kinda like.

DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS 1962--a familiar film from books and tv watching in the 70s and 80s but hadnt seen in ages. Got curious when people said 28 Days Later had borrowed ideas from it. Can't comment on the book and how much is differs, but I see they took out one interesting subplot involving the seeing people being chained to the blind. 9/10.
FACE OF TERROR 1962 --Fernando Rey is a plastic surgeon who cures a disfigured woman he later learns is an escaped mental patient. Pretty good I thought--more melodrama than horror but with good performances and refreshing change of pace from the typical story about a scientist who reconstructs a woman's face then has to kill for more supply of key ingredients. This goes in a different direction. 8/10.
RHINO! 1964 -- innocuous Nature conservation film with lots of animal close ups. 8.5/10.

Without a Clue (1988) - 8/10 Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley star in this perfectly pitched comedy-mystery that turns the classic lore of Sherlock Holmes upside down. Caine and Kingsley feed off each other with some great dialogue banter and the story offers up few clever twists.

Key Largo B+
Funny, I had memories of really loving it, alas those were surely late late tv airings when it felt more exciting (& I was younger & more impressionable). Still, Bogart-Robinson-Barrymore is a f'n electric trio & like a bucket list to see them all together.
