Psycho 8/10. Really quite excellent. It was actually gonna be a 9 but I was disappointed with the ending tbh.

3:10 to Yuma. What really stood out on this viewing was how superbly directed this was. Makes me excited for that Boba Fett film. Fantastic stuff, felt like a classic western and might be my favorite modern western. And my god, the action is so crisp, and well shot. The ending shooting is easily one of the most exhilarating things I’ve seen. Either a 8/10 or 9/10 for me. I’ll have to sleep on it.

Gladiator 9/10. It has minor flaws. I don’t like some of the editing, random shots that feel out of place etc... but the story, and the character arc of the main character is so so good. Inspirational and uplifting. One of my favorite films, gets better every time I watch it.

Ex Machina - 8.5/10
As with so many other movies, this is one I caught about half of at a friend's house and thought it was okay. I just watched the whole thing today and I was very impressed.
It's a gorgeous and enthralling movie made even more impressive considering it's Alex Garland's directorial debut. My only real complaint is that I was not rooting for the character(s) the movie wanted me to root for, so the emotional beats just didn't hit me like they would've if I saw things differently. Still a great movie that I think is actually better than Annihilation.

Trailer Park Boys - The Movie A
Released between seasons 6 & 7, it has no bearing on any tv continuity. Fully non-canon so as to allow newcomers proper context & exposition about the show & its overall premise. Ivan Reitman co-produced with the showrunner's Mike Clattenberg to make it more cinematic. (the Canadian released sequels look & feel just like the tv show) Still, it does feel like one giant TPB episode, one of the best standalone episodes if there ever was.

3:10 to Yuma (2007) - 8.5/10
I had forgotten how incredible Christian Bale is in this movie. What a tragic and courageous character. He needs to do more work like this. My only complaint with the movie is that I still don't think the western landscape was shot as well as could have been. It could've been a lot better looking. Other than that, this is an excellent movie.
Unforgiven - 9/10
Freeman, Eastwood, and Hackman give great performances. The cinematography is brilliant. The locations are beautiful. The end in the saloon is surprising and brutal. Yet it's too slow for its own good and it can really drag. It's still a great movie overall that works very well.

Atonement.
Wow. Absolute perfection. One of the most tragic, and powerful films I’ve ever seen. And my god, the cinematography was breathtaking. Each shot looked like it was from an oil canvas. This film floored me, and the fact that it’s this damn good is suprising because I wasn’t expecting a whole lot from this film.
10/10, a must watch. It’s on Netflix for anyone who has that.

Wes Anderson’s Rushmore
Blah, really didn’t like this. It’s well shot, Bill Murray is a plus as always and the music is fantastic. But I didn’t like anything else. The main character is a unlikeable, entitled little brat who irritated me from start to finish. The relationships, the love triangle, everything was so incredibly obnoxious. Wes Anderson is very talented, but I often can’t stand his films because he just makes everything unnecessarily quirky to the point of annoyance. The off kilter style gets in the way of the story. It feels awkward, I didn’t care for anything that was happening and I was happy when the film was over.
4/10

Quirky yet excellent little indie film. The visuals are creative to say the least and I love the ending.

So I finally got through Irreversible. Great date night movie!
it’s vile, disgusting, and incredibly hard to watch, but I understand what Gasoer Noe is trying to say. It’s well made, and probably the most realistic film I’ve ever seen. I have no interest in watching it ever again but I’m glad I got through it. Not sure on a rating.

It's also an 8/10 for me. I think the problem for many people was that they were expecting a straight up horror movie because of the marketing and were disappointed that the actual movie was quite different from that.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988) - 9/10
What a movie. How did Zemeckis pull this off? This should've been an absolute train wreck, but somehow it's an insanely entertaining and engrossing experience. Nostalgia might be clouding my judgment a bit, but this movie still impresses me.

The Royal Tenenbaums. This along with Grand Budapest and Mr Fox are the Wes Anderson flicks I enjoy. This one caught me by surprise, I was expecting to dislike it but really enjoyed it. 7/10
Put on Nightcrawler around 2:00 am and wasn’t expecting to get far into at all. But the film is still so damn good and like with all the other viewings I was engrossed from start to finish. Gyllenhaal gives one of my favorite performances ever and this film is endlessly rewatchable for me. 9/10.

Locke (2013) - 8.5/10
Seeing a man's life unravel in real-time is devastating and Tom Hardy shows off how truly incredible he is as an actor. A second viewing helped immensely on this one.
