That's wondeful, simplistic and magical. Only when people like you are also smug about us liking it, like saying stuff like Leia can't do that, Yoda dosen't talk like that, force ghosts don't have lightning. Smug, smug smug. I haven't said those things. Thanks for generalizing. You started with the smug attitude. This guy shares my perspective. He does a good job explaining why the entire movie is jarring to a fan like me, that shares his 'expectations' of the universe. Like I said i get that you're mad you didn't get what you wanted and want to be no part of this anymore. I get it and I approve, i'm glad you made that choice even. What don't you understand? It's less one of you I'll have to argue with when SOLO or episode IX comes out, unless you will continue to pirate the movies and then come here and say you "saw" it and was shit. But I have the hope that some of you, with your opinions will actually be fed up and move to other things and leave us alone. My OP was a generalization. You responded, if the shoe fits... I did not watch the video sorry.

The only reason my score went up is because I enjoyed the Kylo and Rey stuff a little more. The rest of it pretty much stayed the same for me. What was better the second time about the Kylo/Rey thingy? If you don't mind me asking. I liked the way they each figured they could turn the other. The way that Kylo slowly showed Rey his tragic side of the story was better the second time around as well. It just felt smoother. It was good to see Rey finally have some vulnerable humanity to want to help Kylo. Plus the fight with the Praetorian Guard really looked better the second time. I think it was shot excellently, almost like an old Samurai movie. I don't like that Snoke had to die in that sequence, but that fight with his guards was great.

First time a red and blue lightsaber are on the same side? i think so. Also the final kill was excelent. Something I was waiting to happen since i saw a lightsaber. Click kill click.

The fanbase divided long before The Force Awakens. The division started back in 1999 and hasn't stopped since.

Perhaps you could provide an example of this 'new stuff' we won't accept, quite frankly I didn't think there was much new stuff in the film, it was mainly re-hashes of old stuff but Mr Johnson did something different with them. Hell, if a someone working on a new film wants to do some genuinely new stuff, I'll judge it fairly. The things I couldn't accept were the things that didn't make sense, e.g. Mary Poppins Leia

The things I couldn't accept were the things that didn't make sense, e.g. Mary Poppins Leia Force projection, Force "skype", Force Ghosts interacting with the real world. Leia was nothing new, just the character never used the power. Also killing of the "main villain" to avoid comparisons with palpatine. Hyper space jump. The good guys failing big time. A chain of command for once in the resistance where there are consequences (i think Poe should be put on the brig but whatever) and superior officers don't act like they are friends with the "heroes". A non-Skywalker (maybe, i'm still not convinced) being the greatest force user. New stuff. Could they be more original with ships and locales? sure but i loved the new stuff and i think it opens up episode IX for some innovation also. Like the director said, up until someone uses one particualr force power no one has seen it yet since the OT.

It's all the same, just different applications. Though, honestly, they're making stupid suspension of disbelief breaking stretches with it, and it's now a deus-ex, and it's magic. But you and the Harry Potter crowd like it, so it's at least entertaining for someone.

Just because a lot of the EU is written as silly fan fiction doesn't make it all terrible. I enjoy some of the overarching plots, like Jacen turning dark. His fall was motivated and took a long time. It was interesting. All the nuances of different 'force powers' is just wish fulfillment of the writers.

That was my SW for a long time and i loved it. Now we have movies and people just bash them ![](https://s26.postimg.org/480s321zt/eyes.gif)

Again, I enjoy the EU, but some of the additions to canon/changes to rules, are laughably bad. The major arcs are interesting, and would have been a nice template to loosely base some films off of.

There isn't either or. There are millions of directions you could have gone with this universe.
