I'm waiting to see if any white person has the guts to NOT say it's perfect. Other than from the anonymity of a message board of course. Even more than Spidey's Homecoming Dance, the cast demands this movie be adored by silly white folks. I hope it's good but the trailers look generic as hell to me. Also always thought it was a bit cringey he's Black Panther as if to hammer how he's black. "hey look everyone we have a black character. Hey look at how enlightened we are."
Is Iceman called WHITE Iceman? Hell no the dude is literally blinding white so it's obvious. Same with BP. His costume is onyx black and the brother is the king of an African country. "Gosh it's still not clear enough. Better tack Black on his name so he won't be confused with Orange Panther."
Anyway that's my thoughts on the trailers and stuff.

Well I suppose in the 60's it was still seen as progressive, despite hammering home the characters race. They did at least avoid it with Falcon & Luke Cage. Though not so much with Black Goliath (although there was already a white one). DC just decided to follow suit with Black Lightning |

Ghostbusters 2016 also had a positive reaction on social media as well.
Not saying that Black Panther can't be a good film, but I take what most critics say with a grain of salt.
That being said the film premier actually looked pretty cool.

Well, MCU has had a Caucasian male as the lead character in all 17 of their movies so far. So MCU probably wanted to make sure everyone knows that the lead character in Black Panther is black. |

Or more likely they are using the name the character has had since 1966. So the DC TV series Black Lightning...is it called that to make sure everyone knows the character is black? |

Yes yes yes, we all know by now the only way to satisfy viewers like you is to execute the entire cast and make sure the villain is the only real star of the film. Otherwise there's no "stakes". |

A few unnecessary digs here and there, not sure why. Shouldn't be pleased that a movie is being considered great?
Ryan Coogler did that Creed and that was really good so I wouldn't be surprised if this was good too. I'm just concerned about the villain.

You could literally say the same thing about Wonder Woman. I remember all the advertisements, even from just toys and sponsors that help advertise the movie, it always showed girls and it was all about showing that it's a woman in the lead, and yes, she's powerful. And if the reactions to the Oscar snub is any indicator, you were sexist and a misogynist if you didn't like the movie. |
