Depends on how ashamed you are of comics. What the hell is that supposed to mean? Movies like Logan and Nolan's stuff advocate the idea that it's okay to be disgusted with genuinely comic-booky stuff like costumes and superhero names and space aliens and magic and stuff.

Make a superb film with all that stuff and I’ll praise it. Until then, Logan and TDK remain the pinnacle of the genre.

The DC films by far. XCU movies focus too much on Logan and Mystique.
Am not enamored with the TDK trilogy. Good films yes, but I just don't feel them the way others do. DCEU > XCU > TDK trilogy.

Which a lot of "grounded" CBM fans are.

Yet none of them was nominated for an Oscar. You mean Logan's pity Nom? And you know my opinion on TDK's win.

Depending on which DC movies we're talking about. If it's in general and not just the DCEU than it would be a close call. To find this out, I would have to calculate my avg rating for all DC movies to my avg rating for all XM movies (I'm also counting V for Vendetta and Watchmen for this BTW).
DC - 6.825/10 Fox X-Men - 7.45/10
Therefore, in spite of DC having way more films than the X-Men franchise, X-Men still has more quality. But I do think TDK trumps every X-Men film there is. (Logan would be the closest to compete. I consider it to be the Dark Knight of the franchise anyway.)

I think the MCU is formulaic, doesn’t take risks and is getting downright repetitive. But to each his own.

The X-men series is definitely better than the DC series. The X-men movies are about on par with the MCU movies. The best X-men movie is better than any MCU movie and the worst X-men movie is worse than any MCU movie.
The Dark Knight trilogy is far better than any of them though.

With Annihilation no one really knew about it originally being about a non-white, like how Edge of Tomorrow was originally a Japanese Light Novel and no one really cared. Dr Strange made things multi-ethnical enough to avert the "Mighty Whitey" cliche. Plus we didn't have Strange lecturing someone about their own culture. Iron Fist unfortunately didn't try for that, it went right into the cliche zone.

And they don't hire Prima Donna Directors.

The real question is what mcu movies are better than Logan, X2 and DOFP...FC? Avengers, Winter Soldier, Guardians 1, Civil War, Black Panther...I can go on. Winter Solider was the movie DOFP destroyed in 2014 one month after with a far compelling plot , better villians, 3 dimensional characters and amazing performances from all their actors to the point there was talk that Xavier playing 70s drugged up depressed Xavier should get him a oscar nom for supporting actor. first class is better than civil war (deeper story, deeper conflict, tighter politics, better acting, better writing, better villain, deeper themes) GOTG 1? Is this the movie with the dance off and the abuse of cgi? X2 > Avengers (more serious, more complex, pure superhero drama)X2 at its time of the release was basically TDK without The Heath Ledger factor and the Nolan touch) Logan is a masterwork of great craft and artistry.. No mcu movie is.

I agree and disagree with parts of the above, like Days of Future Past being better than Winter Solider. First Class being better than Civil War.... arguable I suppose but I think Civil War is just a genuinely more entertaining movie.
But mainly, Guardians of the Galaxy was a light hearted movie with a lot of humour, the dance off was not a bad thing for that movie. It's not like it happened in Black Panther or Iron Man. It's like Deadpool, it's supposed to be a funny movie.
And you'd obviously get a ton of CGI in a movie with a talking Racoon and Tree fighting against aliens in space.

Civil War did not give me the intellectual clash of Xavier and Magneto with Tony and Steve. I blame disney though. I enjoyed seeing Magneto finally use serenity and not rage to lift that submarine than the fun and joking airport fight scene from civil war and well .....though very artificial choreographed final fight between tony, bucky and steve in the end of civil war. First Class also dealt deeply with the war politics of cuba, usa, ussr than civil war dealt with superhero registration which was treated more as an afterthought in the movie. And lastly , Fassbender really broke out to become the mainstream working actor he is today because of his great performance as Magneto in first class.Civil War did not really have any stand out performance. All these from a legitimate good film making and film writing stand point puts xmen first class above civil war. I hate to say this but Marvel fans do not know much about film making. I really mean it and I am not throwing shade. I maybe be a fan of xmen but I am just a fan of the artistic side of film as much as I am a xmen fan.

No mcu movie is. All DOFP had going for it was the old cast coming back for a silly fairytale ending. It was destroyed by Guardians.
FC was just more of the same, and Civil War triumphed over it in every way.
Yes, Guardians. Which revived the Space Opera Genre without needing to be Trek or Wars.
X2 is just a rehash of X1, while Avengers knew how to do a proper team dynamic. Hell, X2's whole final act was full of stupid. All it has is nostalgia going for it.
Logan's only real point of popularity was being Jackman and Stewarts' last times in their roles.
