A Dark Matter by Peter Straub. I'm almost half way in and I'm enjoying it so far.

I just got through a chapter in Joe Abercrombieβs βThe Heroesβ called Casualties...in which during a massive battle sequence the POV continues to alternate from character to character based on who kills them. It was really amazing to track once I realized what was happening.
We started off with a Major on one side as they get surprisingly routed by northern barbarians, then we jump into the mind of the Northman who killed the major as heβs stealing his wedding ring and charging up the hill as he gets an arrow in the chest, then we go to one of the archers atop the hill who had just killed our Northman as he shouts orders to his crew when he suddenly gets an arrow in the throat from an inept private on his own squad, then the inept private gets clubbed in the head from behind by a crazed Northman, the crazed Northman charges the enemies lines and rips down their battle standards as heβs run through from behind by an old captain, then the old captain is running away after being heavily outnumbered and feels pain in his back as a spear tip emerges from his chest by a horseman, then the horseman charges a river bed only to get stabbed multiple times by a badass Bremer Dan Gorst!!!! Oh it was such a great action filled chapter.

Incubus by Ray Russell. I've been wanting to read this 1976 horror novel for a long time now, and I finally found a used paperback on Amazon. I'll be starting on it tonight.

Nocturne for the General - John Trenhaile. Found in a box of old 80s thrillers. It's pretty good.

Finished American Psycho, reading the original Mask comics that inspired the Jim Carrey film. I'm surprised at how different (Stanley Ipkiss is barely in them and so far it's been mostly *Detective Kellaway* as the titular Mask) but simultaneously how similar they are.
I'd always heard these were horror comics and the movie was repurposed as a comedy when they hired Carrey, but they're actually pretty goofy. The balloon scene is taken straight from the source material.

I'm also reading Antkind, though I'm not too confident that I will finish it.

Neverland by Douglas Clegg This one is a re-read. I read it when it first came out. I remember liking it, but I couldn't remember many details and so I decided to read it again.
