He does it with help from demons. It is possible I think to levitate without help from demons, but Joel Osteen is not one of those. He is a big bullshitter who attempts to convince people that they need do nothing to attain salvation. What does one need to do to obtain salvation, overeat like the heckler? Philippians 3:19 Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.

Easily, I'd say. It's beyond incoherent. What the hell was Boorman thinking? Absolutely nothing makes sense or is worth sitting through. The scenes in the clinic with the headbands are beyond risible. What was Boorman thinking? In my opinion he wished to make something original, not just a rehash of the film that preceded it. Sequels usually pale in comparison to the original, and he was attempting to match or exceed what it followed. I was not a fan of the first film, so the bar was set pretty low in my opinion. I liked this second film better. How is that for being heretical? But yes, it is a failed effort. I remember reading that Boorman was shocked at the reaction of the first audience to see it, and his first thought was suicide. Then he thought he had to get to work to "save" it.... In a way I saw this play out in real time. I was a projectionist in a theater on its opening day. I saw the audience react to the ending as Boorman had, with laughter where none was intended. The studio rushed instructions to edit the last reel of the print to remove the last scene which showed the aftermath of the destruction by the locusts. Linda Blair was now shown making like she was swinging a lasso over her head that went straight into the end credits. The audio had an abrupt change in the music. The letter said a new last reel would be rushed out. I think we had it in a couple of days. I was later surprised that home video versions had the original cut. But what do I like about this movie? The cinematography is quite good, showing off a great production design, especially in the scenes set in Africa. The score is good. The idea of the plot is interesting, and almost clicks. The Pazuzu angle could have come of well, and not just as high camp. I think the script needed one last rewrite to make it work. Some of the execution is flawed. To me the worst thing about it is Louise Fletcher's performance which is stilted and way off kelter. What was she thinking of, and why didn't Boorman reign it in? Or is this what he wanted? Burton sort of sleepwalks through it. There is a scene with Linda Blair dancing that is just plainly clunky.

TCM shows these occasionally. Called "Behind the Eight Ball" the all have a "So you ..." theme. "So You Want to Quit Smoking", "So You Want to Hold Your Wife" (I wanted to hold my ex wife's head under water but I digress), "So You Want to Be in Politics", 60+ in all. Damn, they were clever. "So you Want a Model Railroad" was a howl. It must have been fun to go to the movies in the 50's and see quality stuff like this, the cartoon, the newsreels. Now you mortgage your house to see some CGI crap and 100+ people looking at their phones.
Anybody else like these?
Yes, they are quite enjoyable. I had a friend who was a film collector back in 1970. He had several of these on 35mm rfilm and would include them in private showings with features and cartoons.
Here is "So You Want a Model Railroad"...

Thanks so much geode for this fun
and informative video about this memorable film too . I just discovered today this article via my E Mail Newsletter
for the Website Page called " DEN OF GEEK " . Do you think this is a fair assessment of Brad Majors? "The asshole, Brad Majors, was played by Bostwick, who started out as a Klown who sang for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus."

"Bowfinger" did deserve more attention. I often don't care a lot for Eddie Murphy but he was superb in this one.

I remember my Dad always said "What Brando films from the 1960's?" I guess not saying anything is better in some cases. I will not comment for the same reason.

I have never succeeded in posting an image. I find the need to have a link to an internet site cumbersome. I uploaded a couple of pictures to a site once... the links didn't work. I gave up. Other websites are dead easy compared to this one.

I think they should make a sequel, "The Enemies of Eddie Coyle"....

I've always thought that the trailer misrepresents the film as an exploration action movie.

This will probably remain the definitive list on Westerns on IMDB V2.0. Time for me to move on. A list that includes the 2010 version of "True Grit" and not the vastly superior version from 1969 is hardly definitive. And there other notable westerns excluded like "The Professionals"...

I think it qualifies as a classic film.

So, would anyone like to see Hollywood take another crack at it? With today's makeup effects, and a disguised guest cast more enthusiastic about actually appearing in the movie, would it be worth the effort. Hell no, almost without doubt it would be vastly inferior.... like most remakes
