Wow! Tomorrow people are going to awake in a world where a MCU film is THE HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIE OF ALL TIME. And haters are going to keep suffering. Doesn't matter how much they cry, doesn't matter all their excuses, doesn't matter how buuthurt they are, the fact is there and the list of Worlwide Box Office of all time wont change in the near future. Their excuses are nothing more than the sign of salty tears flowing. May the Kleenex be with you always!

On Saturday, Disney and Marvel’s blockbuster crossed $2.7892 billion at the global box office, and will exceed the $500,000 in ticket sales needed to surpass “Avatar’s” $2.7897 billion benchmark. Well that's that then. I wonder how long it'll be able to hold that position now. I can't see it being as long as the likes of Titanic or Avatar but then I don't know what else could do it anytime soon. Unless Avatar 2 does. Dunno I kind of doubt Avatar 2 will be able to fleece people for as much money as Avatar 1 did, if it came out between 2012-2015 then maybe but now the 3d shit is played out, people aren't going to en mass pay 2 to 3 times more to watch a movie when it on average almost $10 a ticket anyway especially for a franchise that lost all it's momentum due to taking so long to come out.
But Endgame beat Avatar, yay, for the first time in 22 years the biggest movie in history isn't a James Cameron movie, this is something a lot of people weren't even born to experience before, it's a new world people...sort of nothings really changed but atleast Cameron was hopefully mildly annoyed hahaha.

I saw the announcement on Instagram. The first reply I saw on the feed was a message of congratulations from Tom Brady. Bet that was someone's worst nightmare.

Transformers made billions not much of an accomplishment. On top that kinda a cheap tactic to re release a movie for 5 extra mins something that can be on a dvd Technically, if Avatar had never used this “cheap tactic” and re-released the film then Endgame would’ve passed it without a re-release. So let’s just discount both re-releases because we’re going to get the same result anyways.

And they didn't even need to spend six million dollars on deleted scenes to do it. They just added more theaters and the people came!

It is not much of an accomplishment to make in the TOP 20 highest grossing movie list, IT IS however quite an accomplishment to make this much and shove off Avatar from the mountain top and become number one. Also it was not re-released, it was still in theatres for a lot of places, in parts where it wasn't still in theatres it was placed in with bonus content.

Also it was not re-released, it was still in theatres for a lot of places, in parts where it wasn't still in theatres it was placed in with bonus content. Exactly, Endgame never had a rerelease it had a re-expansion during it's original theatrical run, did MArvel hype this up and give it a few bells and whistles? well yeah but it didn't matter, Endgame was going to crush Avatars original theatrical release regardless, all the "rerelease" did was muddy the waters on how successful Endgame should have been considered, which doesn't matter now as it beat Avatar's lifetime gross outright now.
Also cheap tactics is what Avatar used to get such a number, they did things like only release it in 2d in places for limited times if at all, forcing people to see it in I-Max or 3D, like in china apparently where the cost of 2D tickets were $4.50-$6 but 3d was $9-$12 and I-Max $18-23 or something, inflating their box office well beyond actual ticket sales, Endgame sold over 280m tickets, Avatar didn't even sell 240m, almost $900m of Avatars record comes from those tickets, if you strip it down to tickets and adjusted for inflation Endgame whips Avatar's CGI blue backside, not by a little either but by a healthy margin.

Impressive, though I still think Infinity War is the better film.

Impressive, though I still think Infinity War is the better film. I agree. I love them both but prefer IW. With Professor Hulk, Scott Lang, time travel, old Cap, and Fat Thor, there was a “goofiness” to Endgame that IW didn’t have. Not that that was bad (I thoroughly enjoyed it), but the feel of it just wasn’t as epic as IW.

Some people seem to think that Avatar could have a tenth anniversary re-release or some re-release prior to Avatar 2 coming out that would allow it to take back the #1 position.

It can't change the fact that Endgame kicked Avatar's ass twice! With both the initial theatrical release, and the first rerelease. Game over, man, game over! That's like the Dallas Cowboys running back on the field after everyone has gone home, kicking a field goal, and claiming they won the game.

So Disney can still beat... Disney for the top box office slot. That's nice to know, thanks for sharing.

Poor DC-Fan is having a rough year, First, Black Panther becomes the first CBM to receive a Best Picture nomination Then, Captain Marvel reaches a $1 billion, surpassing Wonder Woman to become the highest grossing female led superhero movie Then, Endgame becomes the biggest movie in cinema history Then it looks like Spider-Man: Far From Home is going to reach $1 billion, which means Spider-Man will stay in the MCU. And you thought the DCEU was going to surpass the MCU someday.

You also forgot how the MCU puts the DCEU to shame with their MULTIPLE Oscar wins, so that prized make up Oscar that Suicide Squad...excuse me the Oscar award winning Suicide Squad has can no longer be used as an accolade to hold over the MCU as now the MCU have multiple awards to taunt back with.
