I'm not remotely interested in seeing this Disney garbage. Yet they have been so much better made than the prequel trilogy. The incompetence on display in those movies at times was astonishing.
The prequel trilogy was far more watchable.

Literally nobody in the world who critiques films for a living agrees with that opinion.

About freaking time we got Lando in the sequel trilogy. He should’ve been introduced in The Last Jedi when Flynn went to that planet with all the gambling. Yet another poor dedication in The Last Jedi.

It's because they started cranking one out every 6 months. People got star wars fatigue. Solo was actually pretty good. Better than the sequel trilogy movies anyway. My godson wanted me to take him for his birthday and I was dreading it but left not at all unhappy. Their timetable was pretty bad, but mostly because of The Last Jedi imo. If that one really did deliver, they wouldn’t have been able to get them on screen fast enough. I’ll see Solo on television, perhaps. The comments weren’t bad, but given the critics score for TLJ, it’s hard to take those seriously. Solo is very good. It just happened to fall after TLJ and the fan backlash.

I thought the final scene of Vader crying out was a bit of a cringe. Imagine if he'd simply stood there, crushing and destroying everything in the room in silent grief and rage. Anything would have been better. The “camera pulls away as he screams”NOOOOOO” move is such a mocked cliche I thought Lucas was trying to be comical. That and the moment in the beginning of the movie between Anakin and Amidala on the balcony are the only two scenes that hurt that movie. Otherwise Lucas would’ve hit a home run but instead hit a triple. He struck out with Attack of the Clones (the worst SW movie IMO) and got to first with The Phantom Menace.

LANDO!!! They are going to make him lose all his cool, have sex with toast and then get killed. He’ll get reamed by Nien Nunb in the cargo hold on the Millenium Falcon if Rian Johnson was writing it to “subvert” SW.

I got it.
I’m serious.
Luke is going to be the first Jedi to rise from the dead and battle to defeat a risen Palpatine. Rey is his disciple and will carry on the Jedi despite Rian Johnson’s bullshit.

Look, I don’t hate TLJ, I’m a SW fan, so I like them all, but Rian Johnson made some very questionable choices.

It's not the last Lol they're money makers why would Disney kill their cash cow? For the sake of humanity and good taste?
Sorry, I loved Star Wars growing up, but I've really had it at this point.
I will never forgive George Lucas for insisting we refer to the first movie as the 4th one & that we call it A New Hope instead of fricken Star Wars which is what it was called when I saw it in 1977 when I was 17. Also that we can't get any but his doctored version without scouring the internet. So because I was almost an adult & fell for Han & Chewie & have wanted a backstory movie on the pair since 1977, any sequels to what was an excellent film were quashed by emo fucking fanboys who didnt ask for the movie I've been asking for since 1977? The only fan group worse than Star Wars are the horror fan crowd. Any time I ventured onto a horror board like Supernatural or Lucifer over on the old IMDb boards & dared disagree with the general main voice, I would get The Warning. We can get 3 fricken Marvel movies a year, but OOOOOO we were getting TOO MANY STAR WARS FILMS!!!!!!

It is mythology like Marvel, only 10 times worse fanbase, probably because the comics have done everything under the sun because they can just claim it's an alternate universe/multiverse. Really, TLJ should be an alternate universe story. Johnson trashed everyone just to trash them. But it was no reason the damned audience had to hold their breath until they turned blue & refused to see a worthy effort like Solo.

You know like when the movie Breakin' came out, it was called 'Breakin'. But then Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo came out so the original became refered to as "Breakin' 1".

There have been WAY TOO MANY Star Wars movies. Star Wars fatigue is ABSOLUTELY why Solo didn't do very well. Disney got greedy. Rogue One and Solo should have been made after the new trilogy, and the TV show Rebels should have been put off as well. 4 Star Wars movies in a decade is at least one too many. Just like 4 James Bond movies in a decade is too many. Star Wars is supposed to be a major fucking event, like Avatar was for example. Marvel is not a valid comparison. A new MCU movie comes out and it's like a new episode of GoT airing or something. It's a common event that a shitload of people love, but it's still a common event. It also has the benefit of introducing new superheroes in most iterations and new villains in all of them. Star Wars thrived (past tense) on long breaks and anticipation.
I think they could have transitioned into having spin-off films and TV shows regularly, but they should have done it after the new trilogy was complete. Again going to a new Star Wars film should feel like people did when they went to Avatar. I was young but I imagine Empire and Jedi felt like that. Going to the prequel films, for all their flaws, felt like that (especially Episode I).

this seems to mirror the PT where the first one is ok/bad and 2nd one awful and 3rd one is memorable but overall a mess
