In Ragnarok, this theme is brought up again as hes afraid of turning into the Hulk as he fears hes never going to be Banner again. But the way its handled is poor and watered down. They turned his daring transformation scene at the end into a real cringe worthy slapstick humor gag. Completely disregarding his fear of turning into the Hulk in this film and previous ones including Age of Ultron. He gets over it in 2 minutes. It's called character development, he accepted his fate of maybe staying Hulk if it meant innocent people could be spared. And they already did the "Tries to turn into the Hulk but can't" thing in the Incredible Hulk movie. If they redid that here it would've been repetitive.

Still doesn't make sense. Thor was brandishing his weapon when first talking with Hela. Hela still talked to Thor and Loki and wanted them to kneel. When confronted with the entire army of Asgard, fully armed and formed against her, Hela still tried to get them to acknowledge her as queen first. It is understandable that Volstagg would question who she was, and it's not like Volstagg would have attacked her out of nowhere even if he was picking up a weapon. So it was out of character for Hela to attack the two out of nowhere. Because she was there to talk to (and probably kill) Odin. And she acknowledged them as her brothers. Volstagg and Fandral were playing guards at the gate and moved to stop her. Take them out so you can walk on through. Notice she says to Skurge that he sees reasoning because he didn't make a move on her (can't remember the exact line). The army that Hogun had wasn't moving on her. But she did fight them off and loved every second of it. So yes it was in character for her. They were in her way. No, Volstagg and Fandral didn't make a move to stop her. They just approached and were cautious about a new unknown person.

Good. I actually really enjoyed it. I prefer it over both Spider Man Homecoming and GOTG2 this year.

Just got back from watching the film. I liked it, thought it was good in fact, it was exactly how I predicted it was going to be. A fun popcorn film, similar to the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Was it just me or did this film seem like they just wanted to completely rebooted Thor and go a whole new direction? Especially compared to the previous films.

A lot of good stuff to digest in this, from Hulk's evolution due to being in Hulk form for so long, to Loki's motivations and stealing the Tesseract, to the fate of Odin, to Surtur, and tons of other stuff. I'm giving it a solid "it was good" for now and I'll see how it grows on me.

I saw it more like a Thor that has assimilated to Earth customs. Especially American customs. Taking selfies and such. I saw somewhere they said it was more like Hemsworth was comfortable in the Thor role and I'd agree. He was really having fun. And when an actor is having fun in his/her role, I'm having fun watching him/her.

Was I the only one who knew it would not top the Raimi movies just from trailers? What gives? Did you all not know it will be a Disney channel movie before the film, I thought we all got the memo.

SMHC suffered quite a backlash on those forums not filled with MCU fanatics. That is likely bc it was essentially a re-regurgitation of previous films and seemed more like a TV pilot with some shoehorned-in MCU cameos. But it is still the best "MCU" film this year vis-a-vis the substance-less joke fests Raccoon turd Vol2 and ThorFraggleRock. Spidey maintained at least some heart from Sony plus a decent villain (weaker than previous ones, but still a great one for MCU). Just wait for the backlash Thor: Fragglerock will face when the hype dies down and the jokes get old...a la "sensitive nipples" and "I have famously huge turds"...

Basically the people who also hated the comics.1. Spidey looked like a teen in the great originals too and went to high school (in TASM too), the new actor actually looks like a spitting image of Tobey McGuire with a fake US accent and with a tad less bug eyed. It would be nice if we actually would get a proper SpiderMAN instead a SpiderBOY for once. 2. I do not like this language. You should have more respect for senior citizens. 3. I remember the comics were more imaginative and creative than SMHC. They did not regurgitate the same plot points over and over again.

1. Spidey looked like a teen in the great originals too and went to high school (in TASM too) Then people shouldn't complain Holland was too young. Spidey wasn't really a man in the first comics either since he was a teen there too. The original Comic May was a very sexist caricature. No, this would've worked out well as a plot from the comics.

I actually thought the jokes were better in Thor: Ragnarok than Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2. A lot of that had to do with Taika Waititi being a better comedy director than James.
