I don't read that Smithy was attempting to refute Lowtack's argument by pointing out that abortion is seen as somehow empowering women thus creating an attempt to answer to an argument not raised by Lowtack. It's merely added as an observation that Smithy finds questionable. Thus.. It's not really a strawman. I know this opinion might bring your condemnation and scorn... but... fuck you, if it does.
"If a kid is 10 and doesn't know where babies come from, they have sucky parents and were probably almost aborted." ^That's a strawman. I know reality is your sworn enemy and especially whenever you have a fellow JW defender to defend, but fuck you. It's not a strawman if the post reference 10 year olds not knowing where babies come from. EDIT: Actually it could be a strawman since you define that, it's just so happened to also be germane to the topic.

Why do assholes like you just never EVER have a sense of humor? Why is that? Does the lack of having a life just make one humorless?

A strawman to what? I'm sure lowtacks appreciates you proving him right. You really don't know what a strawman is. I'm shocked. I don't care what a strawman is. I've got better things to talk about. People who care about strawmen simply can avoid commenting on it.

"To think that abortion is some kind of champion for the human race" ^Also a strawman.

Smithy made a comment on his comment.... He's pointing that they probably should.. If they don't... PARENTING. Jesus Christ.

No I was moving the discussion to a joke. if anything, referencing whether kids know about sex was the strawman since I was commenting on animals boinking. I just obliged the strawman because I don't blather on and whine about it like a little stoned 2 year old.

"To think that abortion is some kind of champion for the human race" ^Also a strawman. I wasn't following the discussion you guys are talking about, but a necessary characteristic of a straw man is that you're presenting it as (a paraphrase or summary of) the other guy's argument. So if that wasn't being done, it's not a straw man. The way to remember that is that think of literal strawmen/scarecrows. A scarecrow is a "mock" version of a man. There's some attempt to make it look like the real thing, but it's missing a lot of features and details of the real thing. It gets a lot of stuff wrong, so to speak, but it's presented as if it were the real thing.

FFS, surprise everybody who already has years of familiarity with you and show some goddamn integrity just once. Your arguments are based on logical fallacies, including the one I quoted in that thread and you just ignored to claim the other one was a "joke".

You mean that I could have maybe corrected you on some stuff? When I was a student I had a discrete mathematics professor who had a shitload of stuff wrong, especially when it came to logic. It was clear that he just had a mathematics background and not a background in logic from a more philosophical angle. I used to correct him a lot.

He tried, with a little hand-holding by Vegas, to get away with claiming the first example i quoted was a joke. Who would think Vegas would use that defense. Even if one were to allow that excuse, there is no getting away from the fact that the second one i quoted was a strawman.

Watch out! Here come the CREDENTIALS! If Cody hadn't recently started back with a new account, I'd be tempted to accuse this imbecile of being Cody.

I just deleted my reply to TP because I thought that my line "Far be it from me to make fun of somebody who taught Arguing 101 in college .... and he makes of fun of Maya for bullshit credentials" went too far. Also... I'm not really sure that TP is actually agreeing with you.... So you might want to hold off on the "suck up for affirmations" bit.
