Very pleasant and soothing piece, Schwartzwald. Thank you for posting it!

Look, it's not because I'm a prude that I'm refusing to shoot an underwear ad in this field...it's because it's 17 flippin' degrees Fahrenheit out here!

Is "Jeepers Creepers" still used? Well, I do, but I get some puzzled looks afterwards. That phrase was pretty well-known for a while (I think in the '30's) as part of a popular song: "Jeepers Creepers!/ Where'd you get those peepers?/Jeepers Creepers!/Where'd you get those eyes?" The phrase was used as a euphemism for the profane phrase, "Jesus Christ!" The same is true of "Jiminy Crickets!" (long before Disney's Pinocchio) and a similar one found occasionally in the Little House books, where an excited Charles ("Pa") Ingalls will exclaim to his wife ("Ma"), "Jerusalem Crickets, Caroline!"

...log in as EllynMacG? The new 'puter has the name I used briefly on this site (tobian), but does not recognize Ellyn. Should I just say I forgot my password (which is actually the case), or is there a better way?

I like cats, but I love dogs. My husband is the opposite: he likes dogs, but he loves cats. We were planning to adopt one of each (from one of several rescue organizations) when the lockdown happened. I'm still hoping we can go back to that plan in a short time. The idea is to get a dog who's cool with cats, and a cat who digs dogs. Oh, yes--they both have to get along with humans.

People always think I "look familiar" It happens all the time. One guy even thought I was his nephew! Well, I can't say that anybody ever mistook me for his nephew (boy, I would hope not!), but I know what you mean. When I was a few decades younger, people were always saying I reminded them of, for instance, their babysitter in Waukegan, or some such.

While I am more of a dog person, I know very well how heartbreaking it is to lose a furry friend. If you are aware of the concept of the Rainbow Bridge, I hope you will find it consoling. If not, you seem to have a couple of younger friends who may comfort you. I hope they do!

There are only three countries in the world that don't use the metric system. Liberia, Myanmar, and the United States. Gee, shouldn't we feel proud to be in such distinguished company...

Just to show that my taste in hotties doesn't end in the "fotties", here's another "take your pick": James McAvoy and Anne Hathaway in Becoming Jane: James McAvoy and Kerry Washington (couldn't find a picture of them together, darn it) in The Last King of Scotland: James McAvoy and a post-Harry Potter Daniel Radcliffe in a poster for a lesser-known period piece, Victor Frankenstein:

I like all of your choices, guys--especially appreciate seeing some of his lesser-known numbers.
Here's another pair of his songs, first one from The Beatles (as seen in A Hard Day's Night), second from post-Wings:

One of my favorites, one that is too often ignored, largely due to Coolio's do-oversion, "Gangsta's Paradise" (and of course Weird Al's hilarious "Amish Paradise")
Another number (perhaps less famous) from Songs in the Key of Life:
From In Square Circle:

Why do I feel as if I'd suddenly been dropped into a session of Dr. Demento??
Not that that's a bad thing...
Because this is Juneteenth:

I know it's kind of late in the day, but at least where I am (California), it's still June 18th, Sir Paul McCartney's 78th birthday I encourage anybody who feels so inclined to post a video of a favorite song by Mr. McC (with or without the Beatles). Think I'll start off with this one: And here's a real um, @$$-kicker from the 1976 tour Wings Over America (the closing night of which I was lucky enough to catch in Los Angeles):
