I too picked ice "cream" (non-dairy) as my first choice, but I was really torn between pie and cake as a second...so I went with cookies.

I have tried several brands of salted caramel ice "cream"--all of them "plant-based" or vegan, since I have a dairy allergy. Here is one brand that is available at some Target stores: Here's a Ben & Jerry's variety (also available from "selected" Targets) that is close to salted caramel, though not identical: Of the two, I prefer the B & J, but be advised that it is quite sweet. I usually follow a serving of this treat with three or four mini-pretzels to counteract that sweetness.

Gunga DinNot my favorite shot, but I picked it because it was one of the few on IMDb that showed not only Fairbanks, Grant, and McLaglen, but also (barely visible beyond Grant's right shoulder) Sam Jaffe. Hey, guys, come on--I know he wasn't big box office...but he played the title character! Sheesh!

When I saw the title of the O/P, my first reaction was "Oh, no--what happened to Gal Gadot??" Then I saw the photos and realized you didn't mean the Amazon Princess Diana. Oh. Never mind. But then I had another think and all I can say is Eww. Not my idea of good casting--physically at least.

Ramón Novarro--a hottie from the silent era, starting off with two from the 1925 Ben-Hur. One more from the silent Ben-Hur, this one in which Judah (Ramón Novarro) confronts Messala, played by the ridiculously miscast Francis X. Bushman: Another shot of Ramón, this one not from Ben-Hur: Can we say, "Hubba-Hubba!"?

ellynmacg I'm with you on this. Miracle Whip over mayonnaise any day. You mentioned tuna salad. Have you ever had tuna or chicken salad on croissants? If not you should try it. Outstanding! I make both with Miracle Whip. I've had both kinds of salad on croissants in one restaurant or another, but I suspect they used...well, you know... mayonnaise. But they were still pretty good. When the stars are properly aligned--i.e., I feel like getting off my lazy tush and actually fixing something--I like to make the following salad (I'm not going to attempt to use exact measurements). Depending on how many servings you want, take one or two 5-5 1/2 oz cans of chunk-style tuna (I prefer light, but albacore is good, too) packed in water. Drain off the water and dump the tuna in a medium-size bowl. Dice one or two small to medium apples and two medium-length celery stalks and use a large spoon or fork to mix them with the tuna. Blend in Miracle Whip to taste--I think I generally use about two tablespoons. Chill (if possible, an hour or more) and serve. While I don't usually use this salad as sandwich filling, I like to have it with toast on the side--pumpernickel, rye, or sourdough being my favorites. NOTE: although I recommend chilling the salad for "an hour or more", often my family has been too hungry to wait that long. I realize this combination of tuna, apples, and celery may sound a bit odd, but every time I've taken it to a potluck, there was never a scrap left. It's a refreshing choice during hot weather. ========= Jokers_Wilde, it's been a few days, so I wondered how your father was doing.

Agree 100%. I dislike mayonnaise, but MW I can deal with. When I was dating the gentleman who eventually became my husband, we discovered a... difference between us that threatened to blight our love. Was it religious differences? Well, that was an issue, but we found ways to cope. A racial or ethnic difference? No. We're both of British Isles/Irish stock (but even had we come of different races, we are both broadminded and mature enough to have coped with that). None of the usual divergences threatened to sunder our relationship. It was this: He preferred {choke} mayonnaise, while I preferred (and still prefer) Miracle Whip. But, gamely refusing to let this grave issue come between us, we negotiated, prayed, underwent counseling. And eventually we compromised: Hubby would use mayonnaise when he made tartar sauce, and I would use Miracle Whip when I made tuna salad. And now we have a jar of each condiment side-by-side on the inside-the-door shelves of our refrigerator. Peace and harmony restored!!! Note: we live west of the Rockies, so that all Hellmann's products are packaged and marketed as "Best Foods".

Whether I go back depends on several factors: (1) The relative position of the pandemic--i.e., how flat is the curve? (2) My general health and that of my housemates (obviously, if any of us have--or test positive for--Covid, we ain't goin' nowhere!) (3) How much money I can spare (4) The quality and availability of the movies then playing Frankly, it's hard for me to imagine what it will be like to go back to something as "normal" as going out to a movie...but we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Maybe this would be a good time to stage a revival of drive-in theaters. If each family/party sat in its own car, and every two cars were separated by a 6-ft minimum--and remember, the cars would not be parked in an enclosed, crowded space--now, that I would definitely be willing to leave my house for! UPDATE: I just discovered (through the wonders of Google) that there are over a dozen drive-in theaters within fifty miles of my current location. I guess I shouldn't have been so surprised...this is Southern California, after all.
