they seem to be the same forces Thanos had used to conquer far more advanced worlds before he got the infinity stones the likely hood earth weapons being able to long term disable them seems unlikely. It's also unlikely that an invasion force that's supposed to be experienced at invading other worlds would use such dumb battle strategy as to voluntarily stay within a 5-square block radius when they vastly outnumber the the enemy and they have machines they can fly on while the enemy only has 2 people who can fly and 1 person who can jump high but can't really fly and also unlikely an invasion force that's supposed to be experienced at invading other worlds would use such dumb battle strategy as to voluntarily fly below the height of the buildings (thereby obstructing their view of everything on the ground) so that an emey who can't fly can jump up and hijack 1 of their flying machines. But MCU is famous for awful, contrived writing simple for plot convenience. Loki alone is strong enough to bring the world to it's knee's he can kill anyone and withstand pretty much anything they can throw at him Loki? The Loki who's such a useless villain that he became basically nothing more than Grandmaster's slave? Superman brought Zod to earth Superman never even knew about Krypton before he found the ship and never even knew about Zod until he heard Zod's broadcast to the world. Iron Man knew the power and destruction that Ultron could cause and was even warned not to create Ultron, but ignored the warnings and still created Ultron.

Well Loki was their general in the invasion of earth and he's known to let grandstanding get in his way, hence why he ends up getting ragdolled by Hulk to finish him off in the film, with Thanos as their general the troops seem more than capable of conquering advanced civilisations.
Also yes Loki a near god who can over power Cap, endure being hit with shields most powerful portable weapon which can disintergrate normal humans and cyborgs, who also posses the ability to mind control anyone into doing as he pleases, who also dethroned Odin and ruled Asguard for years, his arrogance and pettiness is what cost him in Avengers because he had to stick it to Stark and he had to crush the Avengers, had he not been so desperate to do so he could have unleashed the full Chitauri forces before anyone could respond and conquered, thank god for his petty ego I guess.
Tony didn't actually finish creating Ultron the staff corrupted and enhanced the program which was barely out of it's infancy as Tony explains, they weren't even remotely close to being ready, but shit happened, Tony was also being mind whammied at the time anddidnt know that Loki's staff was going to act on it's own.
Also Superman may not have known specifically about Zod but Tony didn't know Ultron was going to happen as he did, and he also as I said didn't actually activate Ultron or anything, Ultron didn't go wrong because of some flaw they overlooked, he went wrong because something alien and beyond any of their imagination happened even Thor who is from an advanced civilisation and actually let Tony tinker with it, if he couldn't predict this would happen how could tony?
