The same reason they speak English in the comics. Aren't we supposed to adhere religiously to the source material?

The aliens have translator implants that allow them to communicate with other races from many, many, many different planets. Wakandans don't. How would the translater know what exact language the other person speaks? Or are we not to suppose to think about it that much? You know what? The Guardians films have made between $700 million and $900 million apiece, Black Panther was a billion dollar blockbuster and one of THE films of 2018, second only to the TWO BILLION blockbuster, Infinity War. Neither the films, nor it's fans, answer to you.

By hearing the language, the same way translators work in all of sci-fi. Were you trying to ask the dumbest question in the history of this board?

yeah, at least that is how the concept of the Universal Translator works in Star Trek and a few other franchises, they explain it ad nauseam. But most franchises are to lazy too even address the issue or to create fictional languages. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_translator

It's actually Rigellian, spoken language of Kang and Kodos. By astonishing coincidence it's identical to English. What's also fascinating is their number 4 looks like a human skull.

For the same reason that all the aliens in Star Trek speak English. funny and there I assumed Klingon, Romulan et all were fully developed languages even spoken and taught in our time. And even funnier, there I though the concept of the Universal Translator was explained in all detail on Star Trek. Let me guess it's the same reason why basically all the aliens speak basic English in Star Wars too, basically?

Are they beyond criticism because they made even more than the GOTG films?

No, you just misunderstanding my question. No, it's just a stupid question. I’m talking about like when Groot says “I am Groot” to Cap who understands “I am”. How does the translator know that it needs to translate in English for Cap to understand what Groot is saying? Like how does it know what exact language Cap speaks? Or when the Guardians first speak to Tony, Spidey, and Strange who understand them perfectly before they even founds out they are from earth.

I don't know about a translator, but Groot could have said "yo lets kill these bitch-ass mofos" which translates to I am Groot. Or, ironically, he could have said I am Groot, which also translates to I am Groot.

It's a necessary evil unfortunately. Personally I hate it, both in the MCU and in DC movies. It's dumb and lazy, but it sort of has to be there.
I wish they'd at least put in some sort of explanation for it. Maybe English is an alien language that was taught to Europeans by the Asgardians? I don't know. That's my psuedo explanation for it.

I dig that.
As far as translators ago, I always liked Doctor Who where the T.A.R.D.I.S. translates everything for everybody, but I like your idea. Maybe they're not speaking our language at all. Maybe we're speaking theirs.

This was never mentioned in any of the movies... Look at Star-Lord's information during the sequence where they're arrested and being processed by the Xander cops.
