It's a necessary evil unfortunately. Personally I hate it, both in the MCU and in DC movies. It's dumb and lazy, but it sort of has to be there. I wish they'd at least put in some sort of explanation for it. Maybe English is an alien language that was taught to Europeans by the Asgardians? I don't know. That's my psuedo explanation for it. Yet you're fine with everyone understanding each other in Star Wars movies.

Far be it for me to post anything that could be perceived as hurtful but many MCU fans have "issues" with reading.

Wait... What?! This was never mentioned in any of the movies... Look at Star-Lord's information during the sequence where they're arrested and being processed by the Xander cops. Ok. So how does Iron Man understand Mantis and Drax?

English seems to be Groot’s native tongue for some reason. Why ask stupid questions?
See... the real answer is "who cares?"

It's so simple, impossible not to comprehend: It's ONE Republic: they naturally speak ONE common, official language - the language is called "Basic" (which we hear as English) and has it's own scribe etc. Aliens in the Outer Rim speak their own languages, like Huttese, Geonosian, Ewok, Jawa etc. It's logical and solid world building - whereas the other one is as clumsy as it is stupid. And obviously you need to be the latter to not comprehend the former.

And obviously you need to be the latter to not comprehend the former. Absolutely! And Raptor will hate me for siding with you but in this case, I must! Star Wars is also a fantasy world so it's easy to get away with having no language barrier. If everyone in this fictional galaxy speaks one language it is because that's the established mythology and that language too is fictional. But in the MCU, we are not in a fictional fantasy world. We are in a fictional version of our own world/Galaxy. Which means that the English they speak is the same as our own. Aliens are an established part of that fictional galaxy -totally fine- but when they are speaking the same English as the Earth based characters we have to assume that they miraculously know an Earth based language. And without explanation, it makes no sense and is lazy and dumb. I feel silly even having to explain this. And as I said above, I'm totally fine with it. It allows the story to unfold without the complication of a language barrier. But it's irksome when people accuse Star Wars of being the same thing. It is not.

Both guys are no different than your average human, yet they can understand dozens of OTHER alien languages spoken to them on a regular basis. It's no less "lazy" than what Marvel does in the MCU.

What about all the dozens/hundreds of other alien languages Han and Luke have to unrealistically just happen to know? The situation is no different in any way, shape, or form. So yes, Star Wars is guilty of the exact same thing, regardless of how irksome you find it.

I am a native English speaker, yet I know some Spanish, Italian and German. So, why can't Han learn Wookie? It's not the same as aliens speaking a European language.

So yes, Star Wars is guilty of the exact same thing, regardless of how irksome you find it. It is not the same at all. I already explained why quite clearly. Luke and Han exist in a fictional galactic civilization. Drax is an alien that has never been to Earth, yet speaks Earth English with a perfect American accent.

Luke and Han appear to be different physically than your average human, nor do they seem to possess dissimilar cognitive ability, yet they understand dozens and dozens, if not hundreds, of alien languages perfectly. NOBODY learns that many languages. Therefore, there is no difference, and you will never convince there is.
