DC-Fan havenless damngumby I hate to break it to you guys about the NFL drama, but it's all bullshit. It's just scripted bullshit like the WWE. Yeah! I have been watching the games this season and it's obvious the referees were flagging small teams to benefits the popular teams: Patriots, Dallas, Pittsburgh... and not only in their games but in others were their immediate competitors are playing. In one particular game I recall like 10 flags against one team in just a quarter, and half of them really, really undeserved.

Holy shit! There has been an avalanche of negative reviews that have just been posted on RT. The score is at 65 percent now. What is happening? What's happening is that critics are beginning to realize that Aquaman isn't an MCU movie.

Wait what? That’s not what he said at all ... Yes it is. Shall we replay the tape? Because critics are beginning to realize that Aquaman isn't an MCU movie. According to DC-Fan, prior to the RT score dropping, critics were under the illusion that Aquaman was a MCU movie. ... You following me so far? It’s an idiotic premise, but consider the source. And prior to the RT score dropping, Aquaman had a relatively good RT score. DC-Fan says that MCU movies get good reviews, not because they are good movies, but because of something he calls, “MCU bias”. ... You are aware of this, right? I mean, it’s one of his most common excuses.
Now, we just put the pieces together. Aquaman early reviews were artificially elevated because the critics (mistakenly) thought it was an MCU movie and due to their positive bias toward that studio. Now that they are aware it is not a MCU movie, the “MCU bias” no longer applies, and unbiased (truthful) reviews are coming in ... which is causing the RT score to drop. Simple. Hey, the next time you fail to comprehend something, try to be a little more discrete. Those embarrassing billboards are just adding insult to your self-inflicted injury.

Aquaman was terrible. The humor didn't hit and frankly, it was hard to tell when it was trying to be funny and when it was unintentional. The film starts off with that hammy love story, moves on to that goofy bullying scene and introduces us to terribly written villains we won't see again for another hour.
Do even the silliest of Marvel films have the henchmen look at each other and make stupid faces before getting their asses kicked? Was Ocean Master as bad or worse than Ronan the Accuser? It's like the director told Patrick Wilson, "There is no such thing as over the top in this film." "RIIIIIIIIIIIIISE ATLANTIIIIIIIIIIIIIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
-If Orm knew Willem Dafoe was betraying him, why did he let it go on so long?
-Why did Mera and Aquaman need to commandeer a boat? They're both living torpedoes. (They needed a boat to stage that fight with the fish creatures, which was also corny as hell.)
-How did those guys in the bar know he was Aquaman? (Granted, that was kind of funny)
-When did Atlantis fall? If it was supposed to be thousands of years ago, why does the king's riddle reference a statue of a Roman ruler built more recently and the creature defending the trident says it's been there for a thousand years?
-Why is Orm treated like a misguided sad sack instead of a tyrant at the end? "When you're ready, let's talk." Really? How many people do you suppose he killed with that tsunami? Do you think that fish princess that watched Orm murder her father would have some choice words for him?
More to the point, why can't DC make a good movie? Why is it so hard? They try to go dark and they fail. They try to have fun and they fail. Why can't they strike the same balance as Marvel films? Get somebody who knows what they're doing so we can all enjoy these characters the way they should be enjoyed.
I still like this version of the character, the dude-bro Aquaman. He just needs a better movie. The world of Atlantis was visually stunning, but I didn't care about any of it because all of the characters were so one dimensional. The dialog was cringeworthy so I don't want to blame the actors. Black Manta is one of the worst villains I've ever seen in a CBM. He looked ridiculous and again all of his dialog was cliched garbage.
I'm so fed up with this franchise and I'm not even a DC fan. They have one good movie to their name (Wonder Woman), and it's only 2/3rds of a good film at that. The spiffy DC intro at the beginning is a sad reminder of all the great characters with limitless potential that will continue to be ruined on screen until these hacks figure things out.

Considering how superheroes in general have a reputation for being silly, why exactly is embracing the silliness a bad thing?

Just got back from Aquaman and Bumblebee. Only seen each once, my opinion would be more solid after a second viewing.
Aquaman what I liked. Some of the visuals are fantastic, some of the jokes landed well, and overall the feel of the movie was pretty spot on. They definitely embraced the Spectacle nature of the comicbook visuals. Black Manta look was spot on comic accurate.
What was ok/serviceable. Mamoa has the charisma to carry a film, but he pretty much only has two acting modes. Sarcastic and Bro Cool. Surprising Dolph Lundgren wasn't horrible. The basic plot served the movie well if not a little predictable.
Now the bad. Orm was forgettable and felt like Generic Villain number 12. I'd say he was on the level of Malekith in Thor the Dark World. Amber Heard still can't act her way out of a wet paper bag. Every time she was on screen her presence and delivery would actually take me out of the story. I enjoyed William Defoe's performance but he didn't really have much to do in the film. The only emotional connection I felt to a character was Arthur's Dad. (I can't believe I'm going to type this, but the emotional connection between Charlie and Bumblebee is stronger than any 2 characters in Aquaman.)
I really wanted to love this movie, but couldn't. I did like it fair enough, though. It's the 2nd best DCEU movie, but it's a step down from Wonder Woman. IF Man of Steel is a 6, BvS 4.5/5, SS 4.5, WW 8/8.5, JL 6 then Aquaman is a 6.5/7
Edit: I still don't like Mamoa in the Orange and Green Armor it just doesn't fit the actor well. I liked his armor in JL better.

Terrible dialog by any measure, but her delivery (including the body language) took it to another level. It was like I was watching a high school production. Just awful.

Giant seahorses, sharks with friggin’ laser beams on their heads ... I bet the kiddies loved it! According to the RT score, and some significant award recognition, Black Panther is the best MCU movie this year. Word on the street is you’re still crying about that! LMAO!
