Would this oh-so-wonderful church "step up" and let a gay couple get married? Or are gay members second class citizens? Hmmm?

Hes a fully competent adult with the luxury of infinite resources. Surely he has to take some personal responsibility and not be branded brainwashed as if it was someone elses fault? He chooses to believe and back his views with funding this church.

Easy dude. Attacking an entire religion is pretty discriminatory. I understand that we don't always agree with specific religions and their beliefs but we should still respect other people's freedom to choose their own religion.

The thing that crosses my mind in all of this, if the church discriminates against LGBTQ+ by not letting them be active roles in the church themselves because of that not being ok by the bible, do they also have the same attitude towards those who have gotten divorced as Pratt says that's no ok by the bible, if the treat divorcee's the same as the LGBTQ+ members I think ok fair play to them, it's not a specific we look down on you for this but a simple we only allow those who most closely follow the guides of the bible can be more than worshippers in our church.

Now if Pratt is allowed to do things for the church LGBTQ+ members cant then fuck those people, fair is fair if you say no to them you should say no to him also, or am I being way to over simplistic about all this...eh I don't care.

I assume it's atleast looked down upon going by Pratt saying the church welcomed him despite his divorce, but I did read somewhere the churches no LGBTQ+ participation in the running of the church is due to them those who take part in such should hold true to the teachings of the bible, so if divorce is also not a condoned act by them then they should be held to the same limitations as LGBTQ+ members, it's only fair I think.

You are conflating criticism of a stupid idea with discrimination, when objectively they are entirely different. If I say to someone that their belief in X is completely irrational and stupid because it is unsupported by any evidence, that is not the same thing as not hiring them because they have that stupid belief. 

No, you're the one conflating criticism with discrimination, or maybe bigotry is a better word. It's one thing to say "I don't agree with their faith because <insert your reason>" and another thing to attack these people and call them names because you don't agree with their beliefs. I have no problem with the former, but that was not what was done here (or at least not what was done in the post I commented on) so it's not even relevant to this discussion. What did happen was someone directing an insult towards the people practicing a certain faith, and that's what I was calling out. 

And to be fair, it's not like I was trying to reprimand Hauntedknight. I was simply advising caution and care. 

I'm going to stop you right there, because that is completely different from what I was saying.

Me: Discrimination against anyone is bad, even if the basis for your discrimination is their choice of religion.

You: So you believe religion deserves special respect.


I'm not going to waste time on you if all you're going to do is misinterpret and strawman my arguments.
