I actually liked both movies equally. Of course, I didn't make that 1 of the answers in my poll above.

The Force Awakens was better made and more stable as far as its balance of character, plot, and action. Rogue One, however, was a more Star Wars-esque movie when you really think about it. It pushed creativity (new planets, new characters, new droids) further than TFA. It pushed the limits of special effects much better (the ballsy use of CGI to recreate the faces of both a young Princess Leia and Tarkin from A New Hope era). It also presented us with a fresh story that was told from a few very cool perspectives.
In essence, Rogue One challenged itself; TFA didn't. Star Wars was always about taking huge risks to see if they could possibly pay off. Rogue One paid off for me.

My vote goes to The Force Awakens. The characters were more interesting, the dialogue more fun, and it remained entertaining throughout. Whereas, Rogue One only shined in it's third act.

I think you might have misinterpreted me. Rogue One was more Star Wars-esque (as I put it) because it followed the principles of Star Wars (pushed new CGI frontiers, created new planets, etc.). TFA felt more like Star Wars, but it didn't follow those principles. It's hard to put it in words, so I probably confused myself and you in the process, but that was what I was getting at.

It was a risk, don't get me wrong, but it wasn't all that I thought it could've been. It's just my personal preference, but I thought Han deserved a heroic outing, not a strangely anti-climactic death scene. I did like the decision to have Kylo Ren kill him, however. That was the real risk for me in TFA.

I wasn't confused, I was being an ass. No offense meant, just general assy behavior on my part!

Meesa gonna go with Rogue One on dis one. This'n movie had da bravado of... well... da Captain himself! And much more! Gets better or just as good on repeat viewings. No Gungan fool caliber rehash or character development like in TFA.

Force Awakens easily.
The other was largely boring for the first half expand with characters nobody will remember in a few years time.

As much as I loved TFA, Rogue One seemed a more tightly plotted and better paced film. Also one hell of a finale. Holy shit!
