Coco Gauff takes down Venus Williams in 1st Round of the 1st Slam of the year.
Men's side -
#2 Joker coming up in a half hour
Nadal is #1 - Fed is #3
Happy these guys are playing - I expected at least one to 'no show' / retire after the U.S. Open ended in September

Canadian Bianca Andreescu, the winner of the last Grand Slam tournament (the 2019 US Open) has withdrawn with a knee injury. That's too bad.

This news is half a day old, but I must: Gael Monfils dispatched Lu Yen-Hsun in three sets, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2. All I can say is: Gael, my son, you still got it. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? It's a French thing.

I don't have much interest in tennis anymore but I would like to see Federer win another GS singles title.

Anybody else read/hear about all this controversy of the French Player asking the bellgirl to peel his banana for him? So what do you think? Should she have peeled it for him?

Coco Gauff steaming through into the third round. At 15!
I love Caroline Wozniaki, she is a fighter. With rheumatoid arthritis (chronic fatigue, joint pain) she still manages to be in the top ranks. She is expected to retire after this.
With double break points down in both sets she still managed to crash through to beat the 19 year old up and coming newbie Dayana Yastremska who is going to go a long way, just not this time.
Wozniaki accused Yastremska of cheating by getting a medical timeout for a calf injury just when Wozniaki was building up steam in the 2nd set.
Sour grapes? A good call? Not cool of professionals in a Grand Slam competition?
Knowing Wozniaki struggles with her illness I tend to be sympathetic that she knows what it is really like. I saw a match where she had used up all her medical timeouts for cramp, had a massive cramp with extremely painful whole-of-leg spasms, and was told by the referee to get back out there, no more timeouts.

The ballkids are all volunteers. Thousands apply and the winners go though comprehensive training. He should peel his own fucking banana. He got $US62K for losing the first round.

Ever try to peel a banana that isn't ripe yet and wrench your finger? Well - me either - but those can be tricky devils at times - maybe he was concerned about that. I think she should have peeled it - bowed her head and then curtsied and then shuffled off after his approval, go ahead and dismissal.

Serena has had some crushing losses in finals in the last couple of years. I am dying to see her smash Margeret Court's record I'm dying to see her get her a$$ kicked in another final She’s the only reason I would watch I probably don’t know most of the current field. I haven’t watched in over a year
