Assume the reviews are equal, who will win the Box Office world wide totals? Wonder Woman will win easily. The most famous and most iconic female superhero starring in her 1st movie, after 75 years. An Oscar-winning director and 2 attractive and popular stars in Gal Gadot and Chris Pine.

An Oscar-winning director and 2 attractive and popular stars in Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. Batman v Superman couldn't even make a billion dollars with the 3 - or 3 of the 4 - most iconic superheroes of all time. Do you expect Wonder Woman to do any better on her own? Captain Marvel comes out less than a year after Infinity War, which Captain Marvel will appear in. Infinity War is guaranteed to make at least $1.5 billion. The Russos will certainly make sure Captain Marvel stands out, so that everyone looks forward to her solo debut. Just as they made sure Spider-Man stood out in Civil War. Meanwhile, Wonder Woman still has the stink of Batman v Superman on her. Personally I expect Wonder Woman to gross about $600M total and Captain Marvel $800M.

The thing is iconic has nothing to do with it. Iconic does not equal anybody cares.
I don't know why anybody uses the word iconic as though it matters.
Popeye the sailor man is iconic. He ain't selling billion dollar films. Because Iconic doesn't mean shit. Caring does.
Marvel knows this, DC hasn't gotten the memo yet.

Iconic means built in draw power. It means many people say "I gotta see the ____ movie, because fuck it, it's ____!" Popeye is a niche character. Not a fair comparison. Superhero movies are really popular now, so an iconic superhero has a built in fan base of a significant size. Marvel has definitely done more with less though.

That's the same thing I heard before BVS . You heard before BvS that the Director was an Oscar-winning Director? You must be really stupid. Iconic does not equal anybody cares And everybody cares about the Wonder Woman movie. People have been clamoring for a female-led superhero movie for a long time. But MCU refused to make any female-led superhero movies. So DCEU beat them to it and now everyone wants to see an historic movie like Wonder Woman. By the time Captain Marvel comes out, the DCEU will have already released Wonder Woman, Gotham City Sirens, and Batgirl. So not too many people will care about a Captain Marvel movie anymore.

You also said Batman v Superman would make more money than The Avengers and be the highest grossing CBM until Justice League Part 1 Captain America: Civil War would not make $1B. Doctor Strange "A November movie about a character no one knows or cares about" would flop. You really want to add Wonder Woman / Captain Marvel predictions to that list? You mentioned Batgirl...How do you feel about Whedon being chosen to direct that? Are you conflicted? I bet you're conflicted.

It's just that iconic or not, Superman has been running on fumes. They can't do anything interesting with him which is why every film has kryptonite and lex. The only reason he's "iconic" is because he's so damn generic.
A comparison came up with another poster earlier. DC pushing superman is like an ice cream company bragging about it's vanilla. Yeah vanilla is a classic seller, but are DC fans really proud to say that?

Again I am sorry for asking this!) Ok my question: Why would he be conflicted, does he hate Whedon? If so, you got any idea why? Hey, if anyone can answer, tyvm.

Things to think about:
Captain Marvel will more likely than not have a MUCH larger budget, all MCU films range from 140-250M.
For Wonder Woman its being reported to have just a 120M budget, so even if Captain Marvel wins the highest gross WW will likely earn the most profit.

Wonder Woman - $500 to 700M worldwide
Captain Marvel - $300 to 500M worldwide

Wonder Woman - $500 to 700M worldwide Captain Marvel - $300 to 500M worldwide 300? You're insane. Your vote doesn't even count, it could be complete shit and will get way more than 300.

I appreciate the analysis, but it's really beside the point I'm asking here. I'm going for the who won the superbowl question, which isn't relevant to who paid the most for their players.

He hates Marvel (but thinks DC is perfect). He hates The Avengers and Age of Ultron, both written and directed by Whedon. Ever since Whedon was announced as the director of Batgirl, dc-fan has not even acknowledged the news let alone said if he's excited or disappointed. That announcement has put him in a major pickle, and it's high-larious. If he were a robot, his head would exploded due to the paradox.

I don't expect every MCU original release to be GOTG big. I admit I vastly prefer Marvel, and I don't expect it to be GOTG big either, but 300 is ridiculous. There is no chance it's in the 300's, I'd bet you $1000. Why in the world would you think it could possibly be that low. I'm just stunned that you even think that's realistic. I don't think it can go below 500 to be honest.
