For the record, "Under God" wasn't actually added until 1954 to stick it to those Godless commies.

Yes, since there's a Christian connotation to it.
In theory, it's no different than saying acts of God, but people are whining about it too much, and with what people think it means, it would be offensive to God to think he's aligned with a particular country...Especially one that likes porn and guns so much.

If people still swear on bibles in court rooms before they testify...
And as long as USA Currency still says "In God We Trust" on it...
Then I think "Under God" should remain part of the Pledge of Allegiance...
"ALL OR NONE" FOLKS!
But, what difference does it make anyway?... According to some comments I've seen made on this website, it seems there are some "So Called" Americans who won't say it, even if it is removed...
Personally, I think there are more important things to worry about...

A mandatory pledge of allegiance is meaningless nonsense. Putting "under god" in a pledge to be said by people who don't believe in god, or don't believe in using him as a promissory agent, is even more absurd.
Put it this way : as it stands, it is entirely possible that an atheist kid will think "Well I didn't choose to say this, I was pressured into it. And I don't believe in god anyway, so I don't feel compelled to be the slightest bit bound by this pledge."
So... is that really the purpose of the wording of the pledge? To minimise the number who feel bound by it?

I'm Christian and I don't pledge allegiance to the flag at all since it seems a bit silly whether God would be in it or not.

Remove it, it's fanciful speculation and has nothing to do with running a country.
How does anyone know we're 'under' God?
God is in the sky? WTF???
What about being inclusive for those folks who don't believe in a God separate from everything? Can they say 'One nation within God'?
What about all those great Americans who don't believe in God at all?
If you have objective proof that your nation is 'Under God' by all means let's see it. If you don't have the proof perhaps it's time to change outdated things like the pledge of allegiance. Things change.

Not sure why they still do that, to non Christians and nonbelievers, you might as well be swearing on a Harry Potter book.

No one is required to swear on a Bible and money spends no matter what.
It's just that no one cares.

The whole thing should be removed since it's completely ridiculous and has never proved to be true.

I have never had to testify in a courtroom, so I have never had to do that, or really know if it is still done... But the way I see it, Until that is no longer done... It is one of those things of our society that is like: " giving your word of honor", or " promising to do something"... Even if a person doesn't believe in GOD, but that person does have morals and really believes in right and wrong and justice too... If you swear on a Bible "to tell the truth", then you MUST.

As far as i'm aware, you can choose to swear on a bible, or you can choose to just affirm you are speaking the truth.

Wait!
There are people on this board that are actually debating or questioning GOD's existence via the "Pledge of Allegiance"?
How pedestrian.

We should add this line to the end. "And I further swear to that, though I be murderous, verminous, lying, Missouri scum!"
But seriously, I'm not taking an unconditional loyalty oath to anything. Well, except maybe bacon.

If you don't have the proof perhaps it's time to change outdated things like the pledge of allegiance. Things change. Hmm, there seems to be quite a few examples, that many members of the government, and even some of our founding fathers, considered our nation to be one that was "Under God"... Here are just a few examples, dating all the way back to 1787! ...or than the prayer that has opened every congressional session of legislative business since 1787....than the words ‘so help me God’ from every presidential oath since 1789.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pledge_of_Allegiance#Addition_of_.22under_God.22"In God We Trust" first appeared on U.S. coins in 1864.The last change in language of the Pledge of Allegiance came on Flag Day 1954 when the words "under God" were added. "In God We Trust" is the official motto of the United States. It was adopted as the nation's motto in 1956.A law passed in a Joint Resolution by the 84th Congress (P.L. 84-140) and approved by President Dwight Eisenhower on July 30, 1956 declared "In God We Trust" must appear on American currency. "In God We Trust" has appeared on paper currency since 1957. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_God_We_TrustIt seems that "The Pledge Of Allegiance" is not the only religious issue that our country needs to address... And the Pledge is not even about God, it's about the Country! EDIT:Oh Yeah, I almost forgot to mention all the States which offer license plates that reference God! As of April 1, 2016 the following U.S. states currently offer an "In God We Trust" license plate as a speciality plate for an additional normal vehicle registration processing which vary from state to state: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Florida (Which also offers a speciality plate) and Georgia which both display the county of issuance on their License Plate offer the option of "In God We Trust" in place of the County Name

I was born in Missouri, raised in Kansas, moved back to Missouri because Kansas is more "red" than "blue". but still get outvoted by the bloody Republicans...
I have vowed that if I ever have to swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, that I will only do it with my hand on a copy of the Constitution of the United States of America. I carry it with me. I purchased a hardbound copy from Barnes and Noble on the clearance rack for a dollar. What does that say about the state of the union?
And the bacon thing; I am vegetarian, but I do really miss the taste of bacon. The vegan version is as close as I can get, sadly. But, hey, there's more for you!
