We have a few posters who love to brag about their city's past sporting accomplishments. This thread will aim to keep the somewhat more current record straight over the next decade. I give cities a better rank for success or Finals appearances in multiple different sports as opposed to just one sport. Also, for the purpose of this list, I consider titles won by calendar years rather than season years. I'll bump at the conclusion of every NA "big 5" sports pro championship from here until the 2029 MLS Cup Final. The question is... how many of us will be posting here by then? 2020s Most Successful NA Cities By Championship
Los Angeles: 5 - 1 NBA Championship ( Lakers 2020) ; 2 World Series Championships ( Dodgers 2020; 2024) ; 1 Super Bowl Championship ( Rams 2022); 1 MLS Cup Championship from 2 Final berths ( LAFC 2022, 2023) Tampa Bay: 3 - 1 Super Bowl Championship ( Buccaneers 2021); 2 Stanley Cup Championships from 3 Final berths ( Lightning 2020, 2021, 2022); 1 Pennant (Rays 2020) Kansas City: 3 - 3 Super Bowl Championships from 4 Super Bowl berths ( Chiefs 2020, 2021, 2023, 2024) Denver: 2 - 1 Stanley Cup Championship ( Avalanche 2022); 1 NBA Championship ( Nuggets 2023) Columbus: 2 - 2 MLS Cup Championships ( Crew 2020, 2023) Dallas/Arlington: 1 - 1 World Series Championship ( Rangers 2023); 1 Stanley Cup Final berth (Stars 2020); 1 NBA Finals berth (Mavericks 2024) San Francisco/Bay Area: 1 - 1 NBA Championship ( Warriors 2022); 2 Super Bowl berths (49ers 2020, 2024) Miami/Sunrise: 1 - 2 NBA Finals berths (Heat 2020, 2023); 1 Stanley Cup Championship from 2 Final berths ( Panthers 2023; 2024) New York City: 1 - 1 MLS Cup Championship ( NYCFC 2021); 1 Pennant (Yankees 2024) Houston: 1 - 1 World Series Championship from 2 Pennants ( Astros 2021, 2022) Boston: 1 - 1 NBA Championship from 2 Finals berths ( Celtics 2022, 2024) Milwaukee: 1 - 1 NBA Championship ( Bucks 2021) Atlanta: 1 - 1 World Series Championship ( Braves 2021) Las Vegas: 1 - 1 Stanley Cup Championship ( Golden Knights 2023) SO CLOSE YET SO FAR
Philadelphia: 0 - 1 MLS Cup Final berth (Union 2022); 1 Pennant (Phillies 2022); 1 Super Bowl berth (Eagles 2023) Phoenix: 0 - 1 NBA Finals berth (Suns 2021); 1 Pennant (Diamondbacks 2023) Seattle: 0 - 1 MLS Cup Final berth (Sounders 2020) Montréal: 0 - 1 Stanley Cup Final berth (Canadiens 2021) Portland: 0 - 1 MLS Cup Final berth (Timbers 2021) Cincinnati: 0 - 1 Super Bowl berth (Bengals 2022) Edmonton: 0 - 1 Stanley Cup Final berth (Oilers 2024)

Hey, you forgot...whoever it is what won the WNBA title! To clear this up early (and prevent the furious debate that would surely follow) I will not be including the WNBA. That said, I could be convinced to include MLS Cups.

That said, I could be convinced to include MLS Cups. What's great is that I think in ten years (maybe sooner!), that won't even be a question. People will start talking about the 'five major sports,' I really believe that. Soccer will never eclipse the NFL or the NBA, but it'll be relevant in a way previous generations couldn't have imagined. Hell I'd say it's already relevant in ways previous generations couldn't have imagined.

To get out in front of this (and so I can claim that I too was thinking ahead of the curve) I'll include MLS Cups. I won't be including the "Supporters' Shield" (best record in the MLS regular season) though because then I'd have to include hockey's President's Trophy. Which I don't want to.

That's a shot at you Boston and 'New England' You won't be pleased by this but I will hypothetically be including the Patriots under Boston (not that we'll have to worry about the Patriots turning up on this list anytime soon).

The 2020s are almost 11 months old.
A bit to early to declare any city the greatest sports city of the 2020s

Wondering what this board will be like at the end of 2029. Frogs will declare Philly the City of Champions despite Hurtsy being a bust, Simmons not attempting a shot more than 10 feet from the basket and subsequently being traded to a Turkish team and Joel Embiid on the injured list for 8 of the 10 years, and the Phillies finishing no higher than 3rd. New Orleans will be underwater so we won’t hear from Movieliker anymore. Tom Brady will accumulate 4 more rings, prompting Rey to put a hit on Belichick. President Harris will be in control forcing Millar to move to Canada. Wolf will ask us our 20 favorite championships of the 20s. The Mets, Knicks, Jets, and Giants will collectively accumulate 7 wins - Klawrencio will only be showing up here for Netflix recommendations. Nutsberry will be found running a crab shack in Key West. And Frank? Frank will be laying on a beach, earning 20%, with Tiffani Amber Thiessen Sobotka at his side living happily ever after.

After the city fails to make this list throughout the decade, Rey will probably be the only Boston fan left on the board.

I don't think you enjoy college sports if memory serves - I just know we have some fans here.
Like - if there's a 0.000001% chance that Penn State wins a National Title (try to contain your laughter) - do I get to lump them in with 'Philadelphia' since they play in my state? Or do you agree that's pretty ridiculous and I shouldn't be celebrating their title win because they're nowhere remotely close to me (besides their quasi hybrid glorified community college campuses) nor did I go to school there - like 98.9% of the state didn't go there either but partake in rooting them on for one illogical reason or another.

No - I will not be including trophies won by children (college sports, Little League etc).
