Check out Arquette's full comment below: "I know, it was really sweet to see the reaction of the fans. It was hard. It was a project I really loved being part of. They went off to do number six and I was like, ‘Oh, okay…’ [Laughs] It’s hard. It’s something that’s really close to my heart, but I love how they handled it. I think my character had a really good role in Scream 5 and had a lot to do. That was really nice. We’ll see... "Who knows, anything is possible. I mean, how many movies have Jason or Mike Myers been in? Not that Dewey’s a killer, but there is a coming-back-to-life element within these horror films."

Jenna Ortega on Neve Campbell's absence: "But it's very clear, like, there's references to Sidney, of course. You know, it's nice because there's still a protectiveness in the script and that's something that the actors had naturally over her because obviously we respect her and we want the best for her. She's missed and thought of." movieweb.com/jenna-ortega-on-neve-campbell-scream-6/

You know, I have paradoxical feelings on this on.
On the one hand, fuck the studio for not coming to terms with Neve. Scream ain't Scream without Sidney!
But then again, we've already had five films with the character, and she seemed pretty disconnected in the last one. Let's move on from Sidney!
Maybe the simplest answer is: we just don't need a Scream 6? Call me crazy. I enjoyed 5cream but there's really nothing left at the end that I care to follow into another story.

Speaking at the Critics Choice Celebration of Latino Cinema & Television recently, Ortega offered an exciting tease for Scream 6, revealing that the film will callback to one of the franchise's previous installments, Scream 2. Ortega expressed her excitement for Scream 6 before sharing that the film features a "lot of good chase sequences" reminiscent of a particularly heart-pounding scene in Scream 2, in which Ghostface chases Gale.

Melissa Barrera on the level of violence to be expected in part 6: “There was a saying on set because (directors) Matt [Bettinelli-Olpin] and Tyler [Gillett] were always asking for more blood and more sweat. They always just wanted more. "More blood spritz" was the saying because they would just always want more. With the last Scream, they were tip-toeing and trying to be very respectful of what the franchise had been, up until that point, and keeping their inner gory dreams at bay. But with this one, they were like, "We're going all out." It's potentially a hundred times gorier.” collider.com/scream-6-gore-melissa-barrera-comments/

I don't know if that's good or bad or neutral. But I do recall Matthew Lillard saying that Wes Craven was always saying 'More blood!' when they were shooting too.

Oh, hooray! More callbacks, that'll keep things feeling fresh! *rubs palms together vigorously in anticipation of a Creed reunion for when the next movie calls back Scream 3*

Oh, hooray! More callbacks, that'll keep things feeling fresh! *rubs palms together vigorously in anticipation of a Creed reunion for when the next movie calls back Scream 3*To be fair, I don't think she said it's a callback, I think that's the writer of the article describing it as a callback. Now, of course there will be loads of callbacks. That's just what they're gonna do in these sequels/reboots/re-whatevers, but I don't think Jenna Ortega said that's what it was. And someone, I think it was Brad Fuller, said that he thought it was a weakness that the last one didn't have any actual chase sequences because that's what Wes Craven built so much of his movies around. I think he kinda had a point. Not saying they heard him, but maybe that was a more widely made point than I thought.

Official teaser trailer:
There's not much to go on here. Nothing to be too excited or irritated by.
The title logo at the end was equal parts kinda clever and kinda annoying, but the fact that it's called Scream 6 just highlights how silly the title of the previous movie was.

Too bad they didn't call the last one The Final Scream, then they would've had some good company in that regard (Friday the 13th, Final Destination).

Ghostface Takes Manhattan Over/under on the odds he spends 75% of the film on a boat?

Ghostface Takes Manhattan Over/under on the odds he spends 75% of the film on a boat? There's gonna be a boat for no good reason at some point, right? Or will it only be referenced in the dialogue? Because there will most certainly be a reference, one way or another.
