lostinlimbo Thanks for hosting and all the calculations. I look forward to this challenge each year. It’s always a lot of fun and gives me a reason to check out some horror films that have slipped through my cracks over the years.

Not sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing that I came within 3 movies of my numbers last year. Except this year I worked full time and last year I was home during the pandemic with nothing to do except watch horror films. Lol

Also it’s a great way to discover even more films that you just got to add to your ever growing watchlist for the next horror challenge .

Well, my showing was pathetic but I still had fun. I watched each movie twice to soak everything in. I was reminded just how good of a film Let the Right One In is. I'm going to buy it to own before the year is over. I watched it theatrical subtitles mode. First off its beautifully shot. Was also reminded of just how inept Eli's helper was. Just like the first time I saw it years ago I was saying 'I can't believe what a dumbass this guy is. How has he went this long without being caught ?!' Stringing a body up a tree right next to a very well lit walking trail in a city park to drain it. Gets interupted and knocks over the jug spilling nearly all the blood in it. He uprights it but then as the women get closer he runs off and forgets the jug altogether.
On the subway ride home he leaves his wadded up blood spattered parka out on top of his little bloodletting kit case. The look on his face right after a passenger walks by him is (lucky for him the passenger wasn't paying attention) hilarious. Then he starts wadding it up even more and opens the case to put it in. Right at the window peering in at a basketball team in an extremely well lit gym. The quick shot of one the players faces seemed to me to indicate some of them was aware of him there watching. Again with stringing a body up in an even more public place to bloodlet. Except this time the victim wakes up before he can even cut him and starts screaming for help as his friends come looking to see what was taking him so long to join them. The guy starts struggling violently and the commotion vibrates the jar of acid dumbass brought right off the bench and most of it is wasted and spilled. I also love that in this universe cats can sense and HATE vampires. Winchester is like a Conjuring-type movie but better in every way. Helen Mirren and Jason Clarke really shine in this; the whole cast is good though. They used practical makeup fx for the ghosts. Little Joe is my favorite FTV this year. The director said she thought the ending was a happy one. I vehemenently disagree. The japanese music is disorienting and seemingly out of place...but it works realy well. Without any spoilers, I thought the route they went with the culprit not being fungus or allergies was pretty clever. If I could sum this movie up in one sentence - Life will find a way.FTV has always been my favorite part of the challenge. Without that requirement I probably never would have discovered/given a chance to some of what turned out to be some of my new favorite modern horrors. Let the Right One In, Trollhunter, The Belko Experiment, Ghost Stories, The Endless

I apologize. I got distracted by my baseball team winning the World Series. I was preoccupied.

I actually usually don’t have them lined up. I just look for one on a daily basis…but that’s a good idea.

I don't have anything formal scheduled, more like a mental pile of titles I've picked up throughout the year that I've purposely saved. I think giving myself a schedule or checklist of some sort would sap a lot of the fun out of it. But that's just me!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... uh, October. Hurrah. I have a list of 23 FTVs and 3 re-watches so far. I don't make a plan for days and dates to watch the movies, really. I save a couple I'm particularly looking forward to for weekends and the shortest ones for midweek. And Halloween (1978) itself for as close to the actual day as possible. Can't wait to get started.

Have not had much time to post here as of lately, but I sure hope to come back stronger within a few weeks. Sadly Tubi is no longer an option (or so it says), and have only a few DVDs/Blu-rays that is unseen, so I guess Youtube and a few other places will hopefully do the job, at least with coming up with the First-Time-Views, but hopefully also maybe finding some interesting and never heard of horror gems.
Not sure if I will attempt any "main themes", like one did a while back, with Hammer Horror, or just Classic Universal Monster movies.

I did Vincent Price last year and that was a lot of fun (and super easy since there's so many of them in the public domain). I'll probably steer away from any particular theme this time around, though. Good luck!

I haven't made out a list, but I am saving movies on my "to watch" queues on various streaming services. I've also marked on my calendar the day Dario Argento's Dark Glasses will be available on Shudder (Oct 13th), although my expectations won't be high.

I shudder to think of what a Dario Argento movie in 2022 will be like, but I'll definitely be giving it a look. Why not? I've already sat through The Card Player and Mother of Tears...
