You're 110% correct on this april221968 that is definitely the point of the show Billions . It's also a mix of - major backstabbing competition , self indulgent power , S&M , blackmail , and some cruelty in every single character on this show . As I mentioned here before - for me personally - just not my cup of tea but I still wouldn't dissuade anyone from checking out this show for him or her self here either . You may find it very entertaining and it does have it's bit of dark humor in the shows dialogue too It's also on a very corporate level all the way around as well . The only reason I even gave it a try ( and about the first 3 episodes before I folded on it ) was my husband wanted to watch it ( and I thought it would be nice to possibly watch a show both of us may like ? ) but after about 5 episodes later for him he also gave up on it too . Of course don't go by my negative output here I suggest viewing it for yourself even if it's out of curiosity or the storyline just may seem interesting to you also . Thanks april221968 for your reply . Welcome. Any other shows you know of that you were disappointed in the overall hype of? The only programs in this age of TV that I was never really interested in is " Reality TV Shows " - again just not my cup of tea here either ( if folks here do like these - enjoy ! ) . I'm really old school and enjoy classic shows from the 1980's and way back mostly ( however I do like a few choice stuff from the 1990's & early 2000's ) .

I haven't watched a second of it, but if I had to guess I would definitely say it's overrated because of what it's about. I would view it similarly as The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones. Shock the value that gets people's attention and is rated based on that rather than quality. So basically all shows you don't like or aren't interested in are for stupid people who don't care about quality and only care about shock value or something similar? Gotcha.

I think most if not all of them are scripted. They are one big lie to fool the microwave/ADD generation into something new The problem is sitcoms with the laugh track are a thing of the past( e.g. Threes Company) Its a shame that they wrote about every possible scenario on TV that they have to turn to this real life shit.

Most "teen dramas', ie: The Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill, Degrassi, Gossip Girl etc. The only ones I really liked were The OC and Freaks & Geeks.

I like Billions. It is a fun show. Nothing special, but it is definitely not overrated. No one even talks about it and most people I talk to bash it. I thought season 2 was much improved. Nice twist in final 2 eps. Giamatti and Lewis were on point all season I thought. Not sure how it can be overrated either since it gets kind of average reviews. Low 80s/B range. It's at least that good.

For me, by far, the most overrated series EVER was Mash. Never found it funny, detested Alan Alda in all his smirky smarminess, and never liked Radar or Hot Lips or even Frank. That it was on the air for eleven years just amazes me. Not even Klinger?

It is the best show on TV and it has nothing to do with nudity and shock value. People who tell me people only watch it for sex have obviously never seen it. What, have they shown nudity once in the past two seasons?

I was dying to see the show for years. I don't have HBO, so I never had the chance to see it. I share access to HBO's app with someone and finally got around to viewing it about two years ago. I thought I was going to love it, but not only did I not like it, I hated it. It's shallow and boring.

Colbert and The Daily Show.
I don't think Colbert is funny at all and I absolutely despise what he has turned The Late Show into. I don't like biased new shows disguised as comedy. I hate the whole "we're not news" act and then continually talking mostly about news.

There are some creative decisions and I do feel some sympathy for Clay but the whole thing is an incredibly unrealistic portrayal of high school troubles and the writing is meager at best. Gave it a 3/10 on my IMDb page.

I only tried to watch the first episode of The Wire and didn't like it but I don't think I gave it a fair chance so I won't vote for it. That leaves The Simpsons. I generally don't like animation series. The exception is Family Guy but even that got old.

Ok Game of Thrones is good quality. but come on shock value can bring you to try a tv show, you might not like it latter but shock value does bring people in or a trendy topic like Bullying which brought us to watch 13 reasons why. High school Bullying and kids comitting suicide is big thing, so a series on that subject definitely makes you to try at least the first episodes and seeing it and just one season like a mini series makes you finish it. If i heard 13 reasons was more than one season series i would have only tried the first episodes but because i saw its a mini series. I watched The Whole thing.

Friends. I just don't understand the hype at all. I totally agree. Watched one episode, and that was enough for me. Which episode?

I totally agree. Watched one episode, and that was enough for me. Which episode? I've put it out of my mind and can't remember a thing, outside of one character entering the living room, saying, "hi," and hearing the laugh track react uproariously for almost two minutes straight.

I hate the whole "we're not news" act and then continually talking mostly about news. Colbert was better in character. Now that he's himself, he sucks. The Daily Show was tolerable. I like Jon Stewart.
