How so? Crabs are meat eaters. They behaved as crabs do... Having said that, I think they're exaggerating Craghas Drahar's actions for the show, but I suppose it's necessary for the reality of the different mediums.
They just are. But maybe not as weird as the zombies, ooops, I mean... white walkers.
We'll see how much crab action we get but hopefully it will be kept at a bare minimum.
Just wait for the scene where the crabs start singing "Under The Sea"...🤪

The King's motivation flips on a dime.
Rhae is supposed to be 3 years older but devolves from the mature teen we saw in the first two episodes.
And she literally stabbed the shit out of a 75% dead boar. Then walks into town blood covered like some kind of badass? Please.
Daemon is invincible to arrows.
The CGI was shit. Literally Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer level.
And forget about learning more about the Crab King. What a fuckin shit show.

Yeah, I think we can write up HOTD S1 Ep3 as the weakest so far.
That's a shame really because the first two episodes had some potential. We'll see what becomes of this show next week, they need a strong comeback. I tell you what, the next two episodes are going to have to be a lot better than than what we saw tonight in order to keep me watching.

Literally Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer level. And forget about learning more about the Crab King. What a fuckin shit show. I think Viserys is suppose to be easily influenced as a king. As Daemon said, he's a weak king. He's a good man, but certainly a weak king. Daemon got hit by arrows at the beginning and the end of the episode. He can't die yet story wise but it would have helped for believability if he had at least picked up a shield from one of his killed foes. Even Jon Snow had the sense to use a shield when getting shot at by Ramsay. Daemon relied too much on luck, which just comes across to the audience as weak writing. That aside, the bigger issue for me was the way Daemon landed on the dragon at the beginning of the episode. He gets hit by arrows and then just...flies off? That's all that happens? The writers set it up like something big was going to happen and then nothing does. What a waste of screen time. Daemon had to know he would get shot at with arrows landing in the middle of the open like that. It was stupid to put his dragon and himself in that situation. Why not stick to the sky and burn those archers from the sky, then land? I understand Daemon is suppose to be a "loose cannon" but come on! If the writing for that scene was good on paper, it didn't translate to the screen. I agree. The writers threw away Craghas Drahar. He barely got introduced at the end of episode 1. We didn't get any time with him for character development. I thought for sure he would be around for at least the whole first season. Then he dies in the third episode. The audience gets nothing but a guy in a mask with some crabs. Anything of significance with him happens off screen or talked about in dialogue. Did he even speak? I don't think so. What the seven hells?! Pretty lame. Sloppy. The talking scenes were fine but a major departure from the quality of the first two episodes. 5/10.

Daemon is invincible to arrows. In the opening sequence, a flaming arrow (these things that don't work) sticks into his plate armor and he has to pluck it out Bonus point for the lizard paw crushing the prisoner. Clumsy dumb beasts…

Rhae is supposed to be 3 years older but devolves from the mature teen we saw in the first two episodes. I'm only 15mn in and Rhaenyra has turned into some entitled sulking bitch who asks "who is here for me?" (almost everyone, princess) and puts people down for not laying the eggs they comment on. And she's still the heir. I don't mind her turning into this, I don't need to like characters in stories, but it really doesn't look like maturation.

The King's motivation flips on a dime. No, it doesn't. His only motivation is to secure his position in the middle of conflicting interests and a changing situation, so he balances both sides: the Westerosi (Hightower etc…) and the Valyrian (Daemon & Velaryons). He changes his mind on the best course to take, which is the sign of a man with a brain as opposed to some dumb hero written for fools. Viserys is a deeper and more realistic character than any on Game Of Thrones. And it seems he is learning too. Only his wife shares in his thoughts and her reluctance to press her own son's interest shows he is right to trust her. He started weak but gained in strength and he knows not to tell his daughter about the Velaryon son. The battle stuff is a waste of time as always but I enjoy the politics.

I think flaming arrows do actually stay lit...

Yeah, how will they ever recover from the disappointment of this episode? Lol. A 17 year old girl acting snotty about possibly having something she was promised taken away from her, why I never! And being self-satisfied about helping kill a wild animal that attacked her? True badasses stab deer their men have tied up for them! And that damn king, a character having trouble making up his mind on tough decisions? What is this, a TV show?

I didn't mind those things that much but walking back to the camp with blood all over the face was a little over the top. And making Viserys such an in-divisive fellow is not improving the appeal of his character.
There's not much of a reason why V would put Rhae next in line for the throne, then change his mind two times about it. Viserys has to be the most indecisive king I've ever seen in a movie or TV show.
I wonder if the book is the same way? Anyone that has read the book might need to chime in here and give is the details on "the king that can't decide". I'm actually kinda hoping he'll be dead soon.
And why does Daemon becomes a guy that can't be stopped and is impervious to arrow fire??? Seriously, this show might have just jumped the ship.
And the crab dude is gone after what... maybe 10 minutes of air-time? Who was this guy anyways? Hmmm....
Nah, this was a very weak episode.

Nah, this was a very weak episode.
Because it hasn't been done and everyone around him is challenging him on it? And oh no, his indecisiveness makes him less appealing? Flawed characters, what is this, a GRRM adaptation? "The king that can't decide" - pwned. Let's add that to "The hand that told the evil queen his plan and got decapitated for it". And indeed, woe is the complex, fascinating, and three dimensional future GOAT big bad villain....."crab dude". So we have a king who isn't Gary Stu enough, a vague background character that died the way he lived, and a princess who forgot to take a bath before returning to camp. The only complaint I really agree with so far is Daemon's plot armor. That arrow scene was silly.

lol.. yeah, you really got me there. Don't you think a dragon shouldn't concern himself with the opinions of the sheep?
I get all this, but in my view, it just didn't work. It might make for a more interesting story as the show progresses but the truth is, the story hasn't been nearly as compelling as GoT so far.
In fact, I bet you wouldn't even rate HOTD first 3 episodes as high as GoT first 3 episodes.
We'll see what happens next week but this episode was the weakest so far.

Just logging in to see who was still here. It’s awesome to see all you guys. I hope you’re well Sad to see no Jonsa Hey! Nice to see you too. Yeah, I haven't seen Jonsa for awhile. We'll probably see her soon enough. If not, she'll definitely come back once Snow (the Jon Snow spin-off/sequel show) starts. She really liked the Jon/Sansa dynamic. What do you think of House of the Dragon so far? Good to see you! I absolutely love it until last nights battle scene. Not just plot armor from arrows but none of it made any sense to me. I understand their plan but I don’t understand how the crab feeder has been successful in hiding for 3 years against two adult dragons. Just doesn’t add up to me. The resources you’d need and the constant wearing down would be horrific. You could see them using catapults at the start where Damon flew back in…. Why wasn’t the dragon torching those? Why did all the Crabfeeder men come out at one time when they would have to know a dragon could be lurking anywhere? I’m usually not one to spoil the fun or be “that guy” but I loved the earlier seasons of GOT because of how real a lot of the dangers felt. On a more positive note I think the set design is beautiful. It’s neat seeing a world that isn’t used to war and the Targs being so ridiculously wealthy the Lannister looks poor. A lot of people are saying the king is naive and it’s definitely true, but when you’ve never seen a war or backstabbing like the original game of thrones…. I think that makes the king have a different perspective on things. Like he probably truly doesn’t believe he would be beheaded for his crown because the past 50 plus years is all mostly peace. Which is kinda interesting imo. I think the two young actresses are wonderful in their roles and it’s kind of a shame they will be time jumping with different actors. So a nice surprise that they finally had a budget to show the kings hunting grounds instead of just 4 dudes walking through a forest haha(Dan and David admitted they ran out of money for that in season 1 in case you aren’t aware. So that’s why Robert is literally just walking through a forest with a few of his men in season 1) I loved how the Boar was definitely a wink at the Audience who remembered Robert Baratheon getting killed by a Boar offscreen(a lot of people don’t appreciate how powerful they are). Also the king not being able to kill the stag on a first try? Maybe symbolic of his weakness and good nature? What do you think about it so far man?

At the name day party, the Lannister guy says "The Crabfeeder has dug in for siege on Bloodstone while his men sabotage our fleet under the cover of dark". This is recent news, without any explanation of what has been happening before. Maybe dragons get seasick and cannot fight on open waters? This makes no sense. Now Daemon has to eat all the fucking crabs on this island. The king is not a hunter, not a fighter, not a dragon rider. He doesn't like conflict or violence and has the long reign of a predecessor called "the conciliator" to comfort him in his conviction.

I'm with ya on this... this might have been the best episode so far and it's not because it had sex scenes, although that did help. lol
But seriously, this was a very good episode. It might have been the first time HOTD actually felt like GoT.
And I could have sworn Milly was going to be in 6 episodes, but maybe not? I'm on the fence too as to how I feel about her leaving. The big time jump might not work. idk... I haven't read the books, so, I am going to guess when I say this, but when the time jump occurs, there will be an all out war going on between several factions.
I just wonder how much action we're going to see every week. Will it be too much or just the right amount or not enough? Either way, I think the show just got more interesting.
