Forcing Kang in here was certainly the biggest mistake. They should have hired a better director and actually made a movie about a weird sci fi fantasy world in the quantum realm. There’s literally nothing interesting about this place in the movie we got. We see some random Star Wars knock off stuff and then completely discard it to focus on setting up the villain for the next Avengers movie.

Funny thing is, the Quantum Realm/Microverse has traditionally been more of a Fantastic Four locale than Ant-Man.
I suppose they could've used Psycho-Man as the villain, as he's from the Quantum Realm. Usually it's Baron Karza who rules the place and he's fighting the Micronauts, but I don't know if Marvel still owns those characters anymore because they were co-owned by Hasbro.

I still can't believe he was given a trilogy. Seriously his Ant-Man movies are mid at best. Either Feige really liked working with him or no one else was interested in making an Ant-Man movie, thus forcing Peyton Reed on us again. His only good movie was a cheerleader film, which makes me wonder if he should direct a Cheerleader film set in the MCU. Maybe we'll finally get a good MCU film from him. He probably made a great hired hand for the execs. He’s likely the kind of director who would never argue a studio note and do exactly as told. He didn’t do a bad job on the first so I can kind of understand why they brought him back for the second, but they were fools to think he could pull off an ambitious movie set in a fantasy sci fi world. I blame the fools who praised the awful Ant-Man and the Wasp, of whom there were many on this board. Also the fact that AM&TW made money is what led Marvel to stick with Reed. And yeah, he is probably a ‘yes’ man. www.worldofreel.com/blog/2023/3/alonso

That's ancient news. As early as Iron Man 2 there's been criticism about Marvel's short leash on its movies. Iron Man 2 specifically because Mickey Rourke allegedly went over the top researching for his role as Whiplash; going to Russia, learning the accent, visiting Russian prisons, then they told him for the love of God just play a comic book villain!
I liked Ant-Man and the Wasp. No apologies from me. I didn't even know all 3 of them were the same director.
