ASM is one of the top 3 Spidey films and best tone wise Yeah, but after the first two there's a REAL big drop-off. Innit? Or it innit? (And I wouldn't even put it at number three, but that's just me. I'd put it at... four, I guess, having only seen the first five.)

He isn't just taking the piss. This is the guy who restarted all the MCU vs. DC fighting single-handedly months and months ago, and he's never let up, even once, since then. Wait, why does he get all the credit for that? I helped! ... er, wait a minute... You are just messing with people. DR and DiCk-Fan are idiots with whom you cannot reason. Different ballgame.

I mean, Dennis and DC-Fan are passionate and frequently hilarious posters around here. I'd smoke a bowl with either of those guys. And you, too! Why not, innit? That said, the bolded section especially intrigues me. Could you please clarify what you meant?

Just so you can support a false claim. Im beyond laughing at these two. Yesterday I made a serious comment about hoping that JL will be a good movie and fearing for it because it has two captains on the ship. The response I got from Donald McHandegg was very insulting. And this time I was even rooting his 'team'. There is no reason there, only idiocrisy.

Fox or Sony would do bettrr No, no they really wouldn't. Look at how much of a wreck that Venom is turning out to be and Fox has yet to prove they can make a good Marvel comics based film that doesn't include the X-Men. It should also be pointed out that the two best X-Men movies - Logan and Deadpool, were not produced through conventional means and the makers were allowed to do as much as they wanted to creatively for peanuts. X-Men: Apocalypse was a full-on Fox produced X-Men movie and it pales in comparison to both Logan and Deadpool by quite a bit in quality.

Amen. It's time for the MCU to close down and reboot. So they would understand the source material better than the company that actually produces said material? Interesting thought...If you're an executive from the mid 90's.

First of all, what are you even talking about? Cite one source that hails the former pair of movies as somehow "revolutionary" at any stage of their creative processes, if you would be so kind. And even assuming you're right and they were somehow qualitatively different than Apocalypse from a production standpoint that still doesn't detract from Fox's wisdom in allowing the other ones to be made freely, etc. One rarely sees this level of rhetorical backflipping to simultaneously blame a studio for making (what you perceive to be) a "bad" movie while steadfastly refusing to give them any credit for making "good" ones? Sounds to me like you enjoyed two out of the last three Fox offerings in spite of your preconceptions to the contrary and didn't even hate the third one. Yikes. Take a deep breath, mang. It's gonna be okay. You don't have to hate any particular movie studio, for the record. You're allowed to, like, think critically and have nuanced opinions. (Oh, what am I saying? You're not going to understand, much less appreciate, any of what I'm tryna 'splain to you. Because you're, you know, predisposed to liking my posts even less than the latest X-movie. Too bad, so sad!)

Fox doesn't make "dark movies" (with the exception of Fan4stic), WB/DC do. Fox make the most balanced movies out of everyone in terms of tone & humour which is why I think they are the best studio for handling the X-Men franchise because by its nature, is more serious property. MCU is too light hearted and DCEU is too gritty which may suit their respective characters.
So no I wouldn't want Avengers produced by Fox because thats not what Fox specialise in. If it did happen, it would probably end up like the first 2 Fantastic 4 movies which do embrace the source material in terms of the over the top nature but the writing for those films were not the best.

Why? Why do you do this? Why do you delight in making the situation worse and unpleasant for everyone on the MCU and DCEU boards? Why am I even asking you, considering you're the guy who reignited the flame war single-handedly back when this site was just getting off the ground. Even before the flame war was under way again, you were still throwing potshots at Marvel fans even though no one had insulted you yet. And here you are still antagonizing everyone. This kind of behavior ruined the original IMDb and it won't be long before the Admin probably decides to just shut down the MCU and DCEU boards on here, too. Thanks to you. the blatant irony and hypocricy! You must be talking to yourself. You just don't have realized it yet.

Why is going dark a good thing? Does there need to be a dark Spider-man, Guardians of the Galaxy or Iron Man movie? Is it not better that there light superhero movies and then dark superhero movies? Why should they take risks? Was the idea of the MCU itself not a risk? If these movies are already hugely successful and people enjoy them why exactly should they take a risk? Why does it need to rated R? Why shouldn't kids be able to see an Avengers movie in theatres? Why do we need to see Iron Man or Thor slaughter people like Deadpool or Wolverine? The Amazing Spider-Man series went dark, and that's best of the 3 Spider-Man series. Wished Sony continued that series instead Marvel telling Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield to go fuck themselves. Yeah, TASM 2 wasn't perfect, but Sony was going to fix all that with TASM 3. Also "Demon in a Bottle" story was a dark story, but Disney made it a joke in Iron Man 2 No, the MCU as a whole wasn't a risk because they went with the safe route, kid jokes and characters don't die. Not to mention they make the same fucking movie every time. Ant-Man and Doctor Strange were just basically Iron Man. Because that would be realistic, the MCU can't show blood because it's the House of Mouse. The Amazing Spider-man 1 was sort of dark and it was completely wrong. Spider-man should not be dark, that movie did not feel right because it took what is a fun and light character and made a dark depressing movie out of it. Nobody had ever attempted a Cinematic Universe of this scale before Marvel did, that makes it a risk. Guardians of the Galaxy, a comic that nobody had really heard of was a risk. Ant-man was something of a risk etc. Why should characters die off? If Iron Man, Thor or Captain America were to be killed off, all that going to do is limit the other movies. Characters die off in the comics and it's grown worthy because every single time it happens you know they will come back, it is only done as a sales gimmick. We don't need to see blood in these movies. Captain America would not have been a better movie if we saw blood when Cap started shooting people. Again if all these movies have been successful as a PG-13 then what's the point in changing it?

Fox doesn't make "dark movies" (with the exception of Fan4stic), WB/DC do. Fox make the most balanced movies out of everyone in terms of tone No, just the most pretentious. Whatwith the repeated Holocaust exploitation and the 1-D way they portray prejudice and their refusal to develop the premise properly. Of course, the comics themselves owe some to that because the comics too have never been good at developing the X-Men's base premise or giving a nuanced portrayal of prejudice. Leave it to FOX they'd make the Asgardians a bunch of delusional LARPers who live in some musty old castle. Give the X-Men to MCU, we'd get stuff like Xavier realizing that hiding kids in his House like a Cult leader is actually wrong and out himself as a Mutant, we'd see X-Men who think Xavier's way isn't the best leaving to form X-Factor teams with the Government to be alternative role models and we'd see the world realizing that maybe they should be working with mutants together as one species because they know there are hostile aliens out there.
