Amen. It's time for the MCU to close down and reboot. Why? Why do you do this? Why do you delight in making the situation worse and unpleasant for everyone on the MCU and DCEU boards? Why am I even asking you, considering you're the guy who reignited the flame war single-handedly back when this site was just getting off the ground. Even before the flame war was under way again, you were still throwing potshots at Marvel fans even though no one had insulted you yet. And here you are still antagonizing everyone. This kind of behavior ruined the original IMDb and it won't be long before the Admin probably decides to just shut down the MCU and DCEU boards on here, too. Thanks to you. ^SensitiveRaptor ^ButthurtRaptor

Why is going dark a good thing? Does there need to be a dark Spider-man, Guardians of the Galaxy or Iron Man movie? Is it not better that there light superhero movies and then dark superhero movies? Why should they take risks? Was the idea of the MCU itself not a risk? If these movies are already hugely successful and people enjoy them why exactly should they take a risk? Why does it need to rated R? Why shouldn't kids be able to see an Avengers movie in theatres? Why do we need to see Iron Man or Thor slaughter people like Deadpool or Wolverine? The Amazing Spider-Man series went dark, and that's best of the 3 Spider-Man series. Wished Sony continued that series instead Marvel telling Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield to go fuck themselves. Yeah, TASM 2 wasn't perfect, but Sony was going to fix all that with TASM 3. Also "Demon in a Bottle" story was a dark story, but Disney made it a joke in Iron Man 2 No, the MCU as a whole wasn't a risk because they went with the safe route, kid jokes and characters don't die. Not to mention they make the same fucking movie every time. Ant-Man and Doctor Strange were just basically Iron Man. Because that would be realistic, the MCU can't show blood because it's the House of Mouse. Oh. My. God. Seriously? That is the worst spiderman movies hands down. TASM2 was downright dreadful.

Homecoming was awesome, it gave us a good Spidey and Peter while the prior ones gave us a good Peter but lame Spidey (Raimi) or vice-versa (ASM). Plus, we get to see Spidey in a bigger Universe where he's not the only hero. Now if only X-Men could get with it.

Fox doesn't make "dark movies" (with the exception of Fan4stic), WB/DC do. Fox make the most balanced movies out of everyone in terms of tone No, just the most pretentious. Whatwith the repeated Holocaust exploitation and the 1-D way they portray prejudice and their refusal to develop the premise properly. Of course, the comics themselves owe some to that because the comics too have never been good at developing the X-Men's base premise or giving a nuanced portrayal of prejudice. Leave it to FOX they'd make the Asgardians a bunch of delusional LARPers who live in some musty old castle. Give the X-Men to MCU, we'd get stuff like Xavier realizing that hiding kids in his House like a Cult leader is actually wrong and out himself as a Mutant, we'd see X-Men who think Xavier's way isn't the best leaving to form X-Factor teams with the Government to be alternative role models and we'd see the world realizing that maybe they should be working with mutants together as one species because they know there are hostile aliens out there. Marvel would add colourful costumes, space epics and give Iceman/Cyclops/Rogue etc more comic accurate portrayals visually (something I want Fox to still do) but without a doubt they would cheesefest the whole product up, with light heartedness, excess levity and simply downgrade the overall stakes. They would do that 100% because this template appeals to the widest of audiences generating more money for Feige. You would lose most of the serious dramatic themes presented in the films to date which would leave a MCU version of Xmen in the same image as The Avengers, Ant Man or Guardian's of the Galaxy - good popcorn flicks, funny and entertaining but no substance and thats not what the X-Men are about.

They wouldn't kill off the entire cast if that's what you mean. Nor would they destroy the world. They wouldn't exploit the Holocaust, and they wouldn't make the Humans 1-D bad guys and they'd show how Mutants really are dangerous so you could understand why Humans would be afraid. And they'd have Xavier realize that hiding away like a secret cult isn't a good idea. Probably end the first movie with him outing himself as a Mutant and outing his school as a Mutant school. And also, they'd probably have the X-Men not be total incompetents like they are in the movies (and a lot of the time, the comics) by have them achieve some success in having Humans and Mutants get along better. Mainly by pointing out Mutants ARE humans, just a new subspecies of them, and people should stop thinking they're a different species.

they'd show how Mutants really are dangerous so you could understand why Humans would be afraid. This is explained during the hearing in X1 when Senator Kelly is explaining that mutants can go through walls and invade privacy at will whilst others can move cities with their mind. Pretty legitimate reasons why humans would be afraid of unidentifiable citizens with immense abilities Xavier says, "Anonymity is the mutant's first defense against the world's hostility." Why out yourself publicly when the world building environment hates you. They're not incompetents. And the MCU would probably have the X-Men fight each other for whatever reason before uniting to fight the big boss - just like in each major Avenger movie. Luckily this trope was only half done in X2 when they manipulated Cyclops into a foe for a limited time and never touched on it again because its creatively bankrupt. In all the other films, theyre actually working together to takedown the villain as a cohesive unit and it puts the Avengers "team work" to shame.

Homecoming was the dredful. ASM was legit good,ASM2 well I would rather watch that then Homecoming. Homecoming might have been the best SM movie. It was easily the best since the first 2. Its the worst since Spidey 3. ASM is the best Since 2. Btw there is no point in Spidey being in the mcu he is now isolated from most of his characters. He needs to be in amd only in the Sony verse to fight Hardys Venom

Pretty legitimate reasons why humans would be afraid of unidentifiable citizens with immense abilities We'd hear it from someone we're meant to sympathize with, not a Strawman. IE, show us mutant criminals who revel in their powers and terrorize normal humans just because they can. By that logic, Martin Luther King Jr should've just gotten into secret brawls with the Black Panthers instead of putting himself and his message out there. Xavier cloisters kids up (after lying to their parents so he can get them there) because he's into segregation. He's conceited because he does nothing proactive and is fine with that. Internal conflict is good. Shows the X-Men wouldn't all agree on Xavier's segregation/Secret Cult attitude. Which is what the comics have done plenty of times. Like when the New Mutants rebelled and became X-Force, or when Cyclops kicked Xavier out of the Mansion. An MCU X-Men might give us something cool like the Collector kidnapping Mutants for his Collection or the Grandmaster making them gladiators in his contests. Or Hell, something like Magneto seemingly being unbeatable and having triumphed over everyone...then all of a sudden Ghost Rider shows up in reaction to Magneto's crimes and effortlessly roasts him with Hellfire.

Homecoming blows those crap TASM movies out of the water, especially the second one, which was one of the worst super hero movies ever made.

show us mutant criminals who revel in their powers and terrorize normal humans just because they can. Nightcrawlers attack on the president is a public display of mutant terrorism. Challenging Xaviers authority has been covered. Mistique in First Class rejects Charles protection and decides to leave (along with others) with Erik because she doesnt believe in how Xavier wants to over protect mutants - also in Apocalypse. Magneto in DOFP criticises Xavier on the plane for hiding away his students and basically called him a coward. There was also internal conflict over the cure storyline in X3.

Fox just makes better Marvel movies. They go dark, they take risks, and they go rated R, something Disney is afraid to do. An Avengers movie from Fox would blow The Avengers and its crappy sequel out of the water. I disagree, both in generalities and in specifics. None of the Fox Marvel movies I've seen has been particularly good--at all, really. While I'm not a huge fan of the "Marvel universe," as I've noted here before, its films (in particular Iron Man and Captain America--I'm informed that the Spider-Man films are another studio altogether, all of which I find very confusing) are notably better (in my opinion, of course) than Fantastic Four (either incarnation) or any of the bits and pieces of the X-Men films I've seen. In general, I utterly disagree about "darkness" being a positive quality. To the contrary, these are comic-book movies, with a golden thread of fun and joie de vivre running through them. As I've written before, I like it when these movies "[are]... not gloomy, and [they] have a wit and a joy to them despite their superficial veneer of purpose. I must say that I miss those kinds of superhero movies. Now we are in an era when even Superman, the Big Blue Boy Scout, has to be a dark, conflicted, morally ambiguous character. That is not realism, that is sheer folly." We are supposed to look up to these characters, not to spend the running time musing over whether we are dull and damned as well as damned dull. I'm not a big fan of the Marvel Universe thus far, but I'd rather have that any day over the sophomoric existentialism of these armchair (pseudo-) philosophers.

Annnd, this is why you don't work for Disney or Fox. Innit?
