As to the force acting on its own: That's the part where things gets quasi-mystical, pseudo religious, even philosophical. And its the only area in which I accept the term "from a certain point of view", which I usually think of as BS.
One way of thinking is that everything is done by the force so its no mystery that it would help Leia, its more a matter of perspective or faith. Like when people say "god works in mysterious ways". Or like when two people are in a car accident and one dies and the other comes out without a scratch. Is it a miracle or is it the air bag?
I'm not saying I buy into that particular view, but for the sake of the drama of the movie, I can buy that she used the force to save herself/the force saved her. For me its just not something that deviates so drastically and so greatly that I cant suspend my disbelief long enough to move on to the next scene.
She survives, and we know its because of the force. Period. Moving on.
The issues I have with the movie are more thematic. Luke needed to be respected more as a character of significance to this franchise, and the OT heroes didn't need to be destroyed in order to up-lift the new heroes. Also, you don't make a sequel to a movie that sets up a lot of questions and then not give us ANY of the answers. All it had to do was throw us a few bones. Not all of them; just a few. But it did none of that. Issues like that are more grievous (see what I did there?) than how hokey looking Leia looked while flying through space.
I think she saved herself from the beggining. see my previous post.Edit: here it is :There is a simple explanation: Right before the bridge blew up, Leia sensed it (we see it in her face) and used the force to protect her body, like a jedi transe. You know, it's easy for us to make up excuses for this scene. Leia sensed the explosion, created a force bubble to save her from the blast, said force bubble allowed her to breath in space although it did not protect her from getting frozen, force ignited her life force to wake her up, then she force-flew through space to get back inside the ship. Like I said, it's easy to make up explanations. Of course, this doesn't change the fact that the force has never been shown to be able to do this and no force user has ever been able to manage the force in such a manner. Then take into consideration that Leia has zero force training and we can categorize this as simply another Mary Sue moment.

You don't have to make up all that stuff. she survived the explosion (happens in movies all the time), she used the force to pull herself back to the ship before she died in space (people living for a period of time in space is another common trope in movies), she's had 30 plus years to work on her force abilities. That's it. Really not that hard.

At least not unless that person has some pretty intense super powers. 30 plus years to work on her force abilities doesn't explain why she's now able to do something that is way beyond any other force user, some with more years and more strength than she has.

The "Star Wars" logo, Snoke's death, and the credits defintely. And I think something in the Kylo Ren/Luke "fight" made people cheer, but can't remember what. And then I laughed so hard when Kylo Ren force slammed Hux against the wall that I inadvertently slapped my hands together. Yoda's appearance got gasps. Luke tickling Rey's hand and "I"m from nowhere" got the biggest laughs.
