"Eh, the Dark Phoenix story is overrated anyways. It's remembered mainly because it's Jean Grey's ONLY major storyline."
As well as being the intros for Kitty Pryde, Emma Frost and the Hellfire Club (and to a lesser extent, Dazzler and the I-hate-Wolverine trio of Cole, Macon, and Reese), Wolverine's "Now it's my turn!" comeback, the killing off of a character that goes back to the Lee-Kirby-Ditko era (although that wasn't originally planned, nor permanent), etc.

Her personality may be limited but its still important to show how much Scott is willing to sacrifice to keep her as Jean rather than dark phoneix and also shows the strong familal bonds between the whole of the xmen that they go into a battle to the death with the shiar even when scott asks them not to. And the comic never really explored Jeans psyche personally (or X3 either), from what weve been hinted in Dark Phoneix the film, we will get a more indepth character study into Sophies Jean Grey which is told from her perspective rather than Scotts concerned thought bubbles.

Still, the parts of the story I mentioned are also correct.

That just makes Jean a plot device rather than a character.

Or it innit?

I had no idea there was a Deadpool. There's a Punisher version of it that I thought was pretty good.

Beh, that story was pretty stupid too...so much so that another What If? writer deliberately did a story where all the NYC heroes decided to hunt down Punisher and within days he was broken and exhausted having been beaten at every turn. He ended up committing suicide.

I've been doing a really big one for about a year and a half now with some friends. It's one where Dr Doom became Iron Man, Magneto was America's most beloved superhero, Peggy Carter became the Winter Soldier, Xavier was the Leader of the Hellfire Club, Namor was the one gamma mutated and leads the people of Atlantis against Humanity, Loki is Sorcerer Supreme, etc.
