Battle of the Sexes (2017)
Decent lightweight sports drama that chronicles Billie Jean King's struggles to get female tennis players paid as much as their male counterparts on the pro circuit, culminating in her symbolic victory over the clown prince of the senior male circuit, Bobby Riggs. Emma Stone turns in an adequate, low-key performance that is probably right for the role. Steve Carrell does rather steal the show as the master showman Riggs, although at times I was almost expecting him to throw in a lusty, Austin Power-esque "Yeah, Baby!" exclamation.
7/10

Left Behind (2014)
What would a movie about everyday people suffering after a Thanos-like snap event be like? Turns out it's boring and unintentionally funny. What a mess of a movie. I almost felt bad for laughing at some 'emotional' parts, but it was so hilarious at times. The writing is atrocious, the only thing worse is the line delivery of some of the actors. I laughed out loud multiple times due to the line delivery. The camerawork and sound design is also bad and it almost feels like they try to turn some scenes into a comedy based on their editing. Ans don't even get me started on the 'dramatic' campy 80s music during the most dramatic scenes. It gets a 2/10, only because it's funny and because of Nicolas Cage.

The Long Goodbye (1973) - impulse buy at Walmart several months ago, finally watched it, good movie, strange tone to it, Robert Altman directed it, Elliott Gould stars and he always seems to give eccentric performances, I would watch it again
8/10

The Midnight Man 1974 - good murder mystery (unless I suck at guessing these things). Burt Lancaster co-wrote and co-directed it. Lots of familiar faces. Even Count Yorga shows up. The murder victim had me wondering just WHO is that girl? Catherine Bach. Only knew her as Daisy Duke. Seems like she had the acting skill (not to mention physical qualities) to have done a lot more.

Ant-Man & Wasp B
As much fun as the first, alas with less for me to care about &/or invest in. B+ of a movie which failed to impress me.

Predator A+
Its full final act of Arnold vs Predator remains the most perfect action sequence in cinematic history.

The Dark Knight. Happy 10 year to the legend.
It has a couple flaws, but in the grand scheme of things and in a film with such a massive scope, they’re so minuscule that they almost come off as nitpicks. In the first 30 minutes, there’s so much going on that some of the scene to scene transitions seem choppy and not totally fluid. There’s a couple lines of exposition I don’t like, and some of the fight cheoreography in a couple scenes could’ve been a tad better.
But the morality, the complexity, the Joker’s plan, the sheer emotion of the third act; I get so much out of this film and every viewing it improves. This is the first viewing where I can say I *get* everything. Everything connected with me this time around, not that it didn’t before, but like it *really* resonated with me this time. The ending monologue sent chills down my spine. Heath Ledger gives a all time great performance and honestly fuck off to anyone who says that he only got recognition for his performance “because of his death.”
This is another example of why I hate scoring things. I’d say 9.5/10 since there are a couple issues but honestly, who the fuck cares? So yeah, I’m going the full 10.

Predator A+Its full final act of Arnold vs Predator remains the most perfect action sequence in cinematic history. Big call there. The action sequences in Rambo 2, Indiana Jones Temple of Doom, Avengers and Independence Day come to mind as close to perfect.

Apocalypto, 9/10. Maybe even a 10/10.
I almost never hear anybody talk about this one. I have no idea why, because I think it's fantastic. The characters work very well and it doesn't feel like people acting. It feels like you're actually watching a Mayan civilization. I also love that Mel Gibson chose to go with Native American and Indigenous Mexican actors. Even if he had chosen very good actors, the immersiveness and real feeling would've fallen apart if he had gone with other types of actors.
I also really like how the characters are defined by their actions. It kinda reminds me of Dunkirk in that way. There is no huge backstory on most characters, you learn about them by what they do. And you also really hate the villains, because of what they've done. And you really want the protagonist to succeed, because of who he has left behind. If you wouldn't care about these two things then the movie would lose its tension and focus. But luckily that isn't the case and you're left with an exhilarating movie. And I haven't even talked about the chase scenes. They are so good. One of my favorite action movies of the 2000s and definitely underappreciated.

It prolly came out when Mel Gibson was having some issues which is a shame because this movie is actually freaking awesome

Repo Man (1984) 10/10 A perfectly bizarre, punk-laced and quotable midnight cult movie. Never tire of this odyssey.
