Donaldson isn't the worst move by any means I just have little faith in his ability to stay on the field and contribute for 140 games. It's a decent 1 year rebuild your free agent value kind of move but I'd of much preferred keeping Camargo as the everyday 3rd baseman instead of a super utility role when he hasn't played the outfield at all which is a huge need as well as starting pitching, bullpen, bench, and catcher. It appears as though the Braves are now punting on Catcher which pisses me off. If he stays healthy and is productive then great. I just don't have faith that he will do that so in my mind it's gonna be a $23 million dollar disabled list player. He's apparently a better defender than I thought so I guess the 3rd base defense won't be taking a hit. Donaldson is a terrific defender. As I said in the original post about it, the risks are obvious, but the upside is there. If it doesn't work out, it's one year. When you sign guys like Donaldson looking to re-establish their value to multi-year deals, then I scratch my head. But on a one-year deal for a guy looking to prove himself to the rest of the league and who, when he is healthy, can obviously play with the best of them, it's worth the risk to me. If I'm a Braves fan, I'm at least excited at the prospect of what a healthy Donaldson can bring. I get where you're coming from. I've warmed up to the idea of it in the past 24 hours. They have a good 3B prospect in the minors who could be starting at AAA named Austin Riley so Donaldson could be a stop gap til 2019 while they move Camargo around. Assuming one of them aren't traded that is. If he can stay healthy and produces like he has in the past then he could really be an asset to the lineup batting behind Freddie Freeman. I am really hoping that they're still looking for an upgrade in the OF though and not going to rely on Camargo there.

Rumor that the Mets will acquire Robinson Cano, Edwin Diaz and Mitch Haniger for Jay Bruce and prospects.
If that trade happens, someone will need to do an R.I.P. thread for me because it will kill me.
42 years as a Mariners fan and this is the lowest point in history.

Oh god, as a Braves fan I personally hate this. I was kind of hoping to make a deal with them for Diaz and/or Haniger. Braves sure have some prospects. What about this deal with the Mets entices the Mariners? Mets eating Cano's contract? Bruce's to my knowledge isn't a good one to have either. This trade looks bogus unless something like Syndergaard or something is involved and I'd heard Mets are shopping him. Padres told them no when asked about Tatis Jr.

Mets and Yankees are the only teams that would likely take him and Yankees don't need him. Mets have Dipoto at their mercy.
On the bright side, I live within a mile of Citi Field so if this trade happens, I become a Mets fan.
How about Cano and Diaz for Freeman and Toussaint?

How about Cano and Diaz for Freeman and Toussaint?
Not a chance. Freeman is the face of the team atm and affordable. Toussaint is possibly the best arm they have to be in the rotation next year. Plus Albies set at 2B. Cano serves no purpose to the Braves. A deal of maybe Riley + Allard for Diaz I'd of done.

I'd agree with them on Kluber and the Braves being an ideal fit. As a Braves fan that's a big haul to give up. Kluber is obviously deserving of it but damn. I'd be really hesitant to give up Kyle Wright. It would also create a 2nd hole in the Braves OF by trading Ender.

I think theyβre just checking in, they arenβt going to be materially involved with either of Harper or Machado beyond just trying to drive their price up.

Nats getting Rosenthal from the Cards is a baffling move. Isnβt his elbow kaput? Not necessarily, he'll be coming back from Tommy John surgery (as many before him have) and they signed him to an incentive-laden deal that, as of now, only guarantees him $7m over the life of the deal, not counting said incentives and the vesting options. Low risk, high reward if he can be a valuable late inning guy again. If not, his option won't vest and he'll be gone after the season.
