Well I was gonna say it was bound to pass Captain Marvel to take the #2 spot but The Lion King is catching up so incredibly quickly that it'll probably have to settle for #3 for now.

Well it's topped $1 billion.
"Sony and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Far From Home has swung past the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, becoming the first installment in the franchise to do so, not adjusted for inflation.
Further, it's only the second Sony movie to become a member of the billion-dollar club behind 2012 James Bond entry Skyfall ($1.1 billion), made in partnership with MGM. And Sony becomes the first studio besides Disney to boast the milestone since Universal's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom earned $1.3 billion a year ago."
Unless I'm reading that wrong though they're wrong on the last sentence because Warner Bros Aquaman made over $1 billion.

It is true, yesterday when I went for a walk I saw a cat and when I went to pet it, it licked me with its tentacles lovingly.

So in the next Spider-Man movie, we can expect social services to take Peter away from Aunt May for child endangerment (letting her under-age nephew dress up as a vigilante and fight against dangerous criminals) and put Peter in a foster home and we can also expect criminals to put out a contract on Aunt May or Ned or MJ aka Mary Jane as a way to strike back at Spider-Man? Potentially, they've had villains go after Peter Parkers loved ones in the other movies in the same way. Dunno what they'll do with Aunt May.

Or will MCU retcon it and just ignore those consequences like how they ignored the fact that Bucky murdered 2 innocent civilians and is a fugitive from the law and ignored the fact that Cap is also a fugitive from the law after aiding and abetting Bucky to flee from the law? Those two things were referred to directly in Infinity War, Captain America was still on the run and Ross wanted him arrested. Winter Soldier was also being hidden away in Wakanda so that's wrong. So no, they obviously won't retcon it, as again, they clearly said that's what the story would be about.

They just announced a whole bunch of movies that have covered almost everyone.
Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Falcon and Winter Soldier are all set.
They've mentioned newbies like Shang Chi, Blade, Fantastic Four and X-Men.
So amongst the main ones the only ones they didn't mention were Spider-Man and Ant-man. Spider-Man will obviously get more movies and probably wasn't announced because that's Sony's business.
So where does that leave Ant-man? His movies are probably the least successful and least popular so you think they might do away with that one?

Some people seem to think that Avatar could have a tenth anniversary re-release or some re-release prior to Avatar 2 coming out that would allow it to take back the #1 position.

Oh did they? They haven't released it publicly then? No. It will have the highest number of fight sequences of any MCU movie. You're welcome, fight-scene junkies. Nice and Imagine not the CGI kind. Winter Soldier has some of the best fight scenes so far because it was real.

This has made $970 million so far. I'm surprised at how well this is doing. Obviously making a billion is set in stone, I wonder how much higher it can go.
It should do $1.1 billion easy too so perhaps $1.2 billion?

They still seem to having the same 2-3 movie a year schedule though. Might be 4 if the next Spider-Man comes out in 2021.

Transformers made billions not much of an accomplishment. Oh it definitely is. There's a tiny handful of movies since summer blockbusters even began that took the #1 position. Jaws Star Wars E.T Jurassic Park Titanic Avatar Avengers Endgame That's all, just 7 movies in the past 45 years. Even if it was nudged over, it's still the first movie to even sniff the figure that Avatar was at. There was only two movies not including Titanic that even just about crossed $2 billion.

I'm surprised Warner Bros didn't show anything from DC because they should have had footage for Wonder Woman and Birds of Prey as well as another trailer for Joker.
I know the Marvel one announced a lot but they showed nothing?

On Saturday, Disney and Marvel’s blockbuster crossed $2.7892 billion at the global box office, and will exceed the $500,000 in ticket sales needed to surpass “Avatar’s” $2.7897 billion benchmark.
Well that's that then. I wonder how long it'll be able to hold that position now. I can't see it being as long as the likes of Titanic or Avatar but then I don't know what else could do it anytime soon.
Unless Avatar 2 does.
