They weren't any better though. Shang Chi about on par and Wakanda Forever weaker. Shang Chi was better than First Avenger, Thors 1 and 2, Iron Mans 2 and 3, Age of Ultron, Ant-Man and Guardians 2. So was Wakanda Forever Shang Chi was just on par with those really, not particularly better or worse. Wakanda Forever was only better than two or maybe three if that. Plus those two always being your go to movies just proves it all. Every since Endgame, that Spider-Man movie is the only banger they've had, the only one recognised as such. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was well liked, on par with the others. The rest... decent at best. Black Widow was kind of a dud, Eternals was a dud, Thor 4 was definitely a dud, Wakanda Forever was a dud especially when compared to the first one, same with Doctor Strange 2, Ant-Man 3 was a dud. I don't know what they're playing at. Based on the trailer for that Captain Marvel 2 that looks like another sure fire dud. I didn't even mind the first one but this is the first one I've got no interest in seeing. It's all gone real downhill.

Well neither of those well written anyway. I did like Shang Chi but Wakanda Forever is kind of a slog. As long as audiences like the movie that's really all that matters in the end. They loved Spider-Man, it's easily a Top 5 to the masses. Most the rest since Endgame hasn't even been liked nevermind loved. They were both better written than most of Phases 1 and 2. They weren't any better though. Shang Chi about on par and Wakanda Forever weaker.

It does matter, it means that the audience enjoyed gutless fanservice over an actually well written movie. Like Wakanda Forever or Shang Chi. Well neither of those well written anyway. Spider-Man No Way Home and to a lesser extent Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is all the MCU movies have had of any real worth in the last 4 years now. No Way Home was nothing but poorly written gutless fanservice. Folks only went to see that for Tobey and Andrew and their old scene-stealer villains, not a real continuation to Tom's story. Doesn't really matter. It's far and away the best MCU since Endgame so that would only really speak of the quality or lack thereof for all the other movies in the past 4 years.

I don't think that's really the problem, they released 10 movies in under 3 years from from Doctor Strange to Endgame and they were all good with Ant-Man 2 and Captain Marvel just being a somewhat weaker.

No but it did peak years ago.

I am and it shouldn't be rebooted but my interest has waned considerably. It peaked with the back to back of Infinity War and Endgame. They are never gonna top Phase 3.

They did go overboard. Infinity War I think did the character best.

So yeah, the ingrates complaining about Phase 4 while ignoring all the flaws in Phases 1 and 2 are not something I'm just going to "go with the flow" on. People regularly cited Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Thor Dark World and Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3 amongst the weakest MCU movies, even now. Phase 4 is just considered even worse. That is the consensus whether it's liked or not.

Phase 4 was definitely the weakest when it came to movies.
Phase 1 was maybe the weakest before that? But then it did have Iron Man and The Avengers. The others were still decent enough.

Saw it today. Enjoyed it, not as good as 1 but better than 2. Bit overlong maybe and the music wasn't as good. Not as much humour though that's probably a good thing now.

The only notable criticism I can recall for Captain America once the movie had released was the goofy costume he wore in Avengers. There was the confusion why Chris Evans was playing him as he'd played Human Torch.
That's about it. He was never disliked. Just at first not as popular as Iron Man or Thor.

Turn into into a Marvel special on Disney Plus or something. The last two specials I think were around that length.

I don't recall people disliking Captain America / Chris Evans but he was less well liked than Iron Man and Thor originally.
Opinion seemed to change for him after Winter Soldier. After Civil War I remember seeing a poll where he was more popular than even Iron Man.
I do think people were a bit harsh on Captain Marvel but the actress was unlikable and the character definitely was never as good as Captain America.

Christ...the guy came out of nowhere to appear as a major star in what's so far the two biggest movies of 2023 that released just two weeks apart and now could have his whole career taken away from him only about a month after that.

WorldClassBullshitters, Nerdrotic, the Quartering, Geek and Gamers, off the top of my head. Well two of those make up the videos I just mentioned. I also know some of those channels too and they hate on everything that comes out anyway. Like the Critical Drinker, that's pretty much their thing. The same few channels moaning about everything.

Oh it was, it very much was. It was all over Youtube, everyone was waiting for it to bomb. According to YouTube there's one video by a popular spoof channel that got 679,000 views, two others that got 142,000 videos each and then no other video above 63,000 views that even mentions Shang Chi and a flop. That's it.
