By the start of 2021, my partner had never seen a single of the MCU movies. I got her into them big time. Watched them all last year and again this year. Watched the Disney+ shows too. Been to the cinema to see the last five of them.
So you can certainly still get into them.
A much harder task if you're trying to figure it out alone though.

I know these movies do make a ton in China but Disney receive a much smaller percentage of that gross than they get back from other countries so on paper it will see the MCU movies gross a lot less but internally won't make too big of a difference.

I think it's clear they've been run by strange or stupid people. Or both. It is a bit weird there was a three year gap between MoS and BVS now that you mentioned it. Didn't Man of Steel only become the first movie in the DCEU just because it happened to be successful? Even that shows the difference. Iron Man was always intended to be the first movie in the MCU. I think Green Lantern was meant to be the first for DC but that ended up a failure and then Man of Steel did good so it was like they said "Ok well I guess we'll start off from this one then".

I can see this doing quite well. After three flops the DCEU could do with a hit too.

Yeah there's no denying that DC ended up dropping the ball hard. It is a shame.
They actually got off to a good start, not in a critical way, but the DCEU really started in 2016 when Batman vs Superman came out and by the end of 2018 we also had Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Justice League. Suicide Squad came out and did well. They'd announced early that Cyborg and Flash were gonna get movies too so they were getting or trying to get the main ones out there quite quick.
But now it's just....the DCEU just has no direction does it? Forgetting the Synder cut entirely, theres been no Superman, no Batman, no Green Lantern, what's going on with Wonder Woman now?
There's an Aquaman movie that's good and The Flash apparently after countless delays.
Then just a bunch of second stringer movies, Birds of Prey? Another Suicide Squad focusing on a bunch of D listers? Black Adam (granted that will likely do well), another Shazam, Blue Beetle? Really?
There's no real connection amongst them. The only sense of them leading towards anything was with the Synder trilogy otherwise they may as well just be individual movies.
I don't understand some of the decisions here. Why are they making movies from C/D list characters so early on when Superman hasn't had his own film for nearly a decade. Batman never got a solo film. There's no Green Lantern film. No Teen Titans film etc.

Phase 6 if at all. No mention of Shang Chi 2 either but they're too recent I imagine.

Yeah very impressive. Just noticed they have said nothing about this years Halloween special though or the GOTG Christmas special.
I don't know why Echo or Agatha need to be a thing but I'm interested in the rest. Particularly Fantastic Four and The Avengers movies.
Glad that Charlie Cox is getting some Daredevil love too.

I'll have to watch the original show all over again before I watch this.

It's just five shorts from what I heard. Probably not even 20 minutes long. Yeah but then why waste money on this? They really shouldn't bother. It's not like Disney is short of money and Baby Groot is popular. Now that the character has aged up into his adolescent years, then we won't see this particular version of Groot anymore probably. And it sells merchandise and kids will like it.

Finally saw it today. I liked it but yeah it wasn't as good as the last one. Everyone has pretty much said it already but there were too many jokes. They could have done with removing say a third of the jokes especially during some of the more serious moments.
Christian Bale gave a great performance, he could have been a top MCU villain if only he had more to work with.
It was good visually, it was good to see the other Gods, to see Jane and Sif again. The action was largely pretty good but I didn't care for the Kid Thors bit. Some of the humour was good, I liked the jealous Stormbreaker but then the goats were overdone. So the humour was a bit here and there but yeah I could have done with less of it.
I was concerned that Thor was gonna get some Homer Simpsons treatment and he'd be nerfed to make Jane and Valkryie look better but that didn't happen thankfully.

Of the recent films I think Wu Wenwu has been one of the best. Hes a top 5 villain for sure.

Yeah I'm wary of that. The character did become more popular after Ragnarok/Infinity War and after incorporating a lot more humour into the character.
They've gotta be careful they don't go too overboard on that. He doesn't need to be turned into some dumb goofy strong guy like Goku or something.
Infinity War Thor was great. They had the perfect balance there.

I can't believe they actually showed a woman's boobs in a trailer. When does that ever happen?

I think the release date didn't help it at all either. They'd released the three movies prior to it in December and that had worked out really well for them. To then release Solo in May was too soon, for two reasons being #1....it was too soon, it wasn't even half a year since the last one came out and #2 being that Episode VIII was very divisive and that needed a bit of time to go away a little. Should have released in December 2018. I think they were looking to get into a two movies a year schedule, and they wanted May and December to be their months. December seems to work better. Maybe, but I don't think that would have worked for it like it does Marvel because at least there they have more in the way of variety.
