Shady Brady is a known cheater. Can't count him. Eat it, sucker! The Cowboys looked great against the Jets!

Maybe Allen Iverson in 2001, but I could argue for Shaq. It was definitely one of those two though. We did have Brian Dawkins on the Eagles who may have been the best Safety in the league for years, but not necessarily the best player. The Phillies had Roy Halladay in his prime and there was a 3-4 year stretch where Ryan Howard was the best hitter on the planet so they may count, but for the most part Philly is not in the conversation.

Leonard was never the best player in the NBA and never will be. I am sick of him being mentioned.

1. Everybody on Earth knows that Ron Guidry was the MVP in '78. Clemens is a steroid boy. Can't count him. Pedro was better on the Expos and the Yankees owned him anyway. Even Pedro said, "The Yanks are my daddy." Betts - don't follow baseball enough now to know, but with your track record I know you are wrong about Betts 2. Bonds was a steroid boy. Can't count him. 3. Bird - uhh, utilize Google or Wiki and type in "Magic" Both Lawrence Taylor and Dwight Gooden were drug addicts. It might not say that on Wikipedia where you look up all you know about American sports, but it's true. So they don't count. Jim Rice actually did win the MVP in 1978, not Ron Guidry, so wrong again. Wayne Gretzky was the greatest player when he played for Oilers and Kings, by the time he got to Rangers he was a shell of what he once was, so wrong again. Jeremy Lin is a gook, so wrong again. You might have some soccer players you can mention, Ringo, but when it comes to American sports, you couldn't be any dumber. Seriously folks, you can't make this stuff up. This version of marco is just a pale comparison of mediocrity. Stick to watching John Oliver, kid, in other areas of thought you're out of your league. You didn't comment on the "Pedro was better on the Expos" line. That was comedic gold.

Houston
MLB - Best pitcher Nolan Ryan
NFL - Best defensive player JJ Watt
NBA - best player for one season maybe Hakeem Olajuwon
We might have the best quarterback in the league with Deshaun Watson if Brady ever retires and Mahomes' ankle goes out. will keep my fingers crossed....

Leonard was never the best player in the NBA and never will be. The hell he isn't. Kawhi is thee best player in NBA right now. Super talented in all areas....and he revealed he has the clutch gene, that intangible that really separates the men from the boys...in other words separates the Kawhis from the LeBums. Look, I am the biggest NBA fan on Earth and I know the league is oversaturated with insanely incredible talent. LeBum, Durant, Greek Freak, Westbrick, Harden, Mitchell Robinson, Anthony Davis, Donovan Mitchell...these players are not just first ballot Hall Of Famers, but they go into that special wing of the Hall for greatest players that ever played the game. And Kawhi is actually better than those guys. Yeah, maybe he's as brittle as a potato chip and can't play a full season, but even if you get 60 games from him that is enough to carry your team to glory.

Think about it, prior to last season if you asked who the top five players in the NBA were, Leonard would not get mentioned. Heck, even when the playoffs started last year he would not be mentioned. Then he had an amazing run in the playoffs and an okay Finals. Now he is the greatest all of the sudden. It is not true. He is not better than Steph. He is not better than Harden. He is not better than Durant. He is not better than Lebron. I could keep going here. I cannot take away his amazing three series run, but being amazing for one month in a long season, even if it is in crunch time, does not all of the sudden make you the best player in the NBA.

Who was best player in Toronto - a team that won the Championship? Him. Who is the best player on a top Clippers team? Him. You could put him on any team right now and he would be the best player. One exception the Nets, I do think Durant is better. And Leonard was always mentioned as a top 5 player. Once again, I don't know what you have been watching. He's a stunning player. Best in the NBA (Durant is hurt right now.) How you can say Curry - a guy I love - is better, is absolutely ridiculous.

Also, he was not mentioned as a top five player. Where? He joins the Lakers right now he is not the best player. Heck, I can make a solid argument guys like Embiid and Lilliard are better, but I don't because of rings.

Heck, I can make a solid argument guys like Embiid and Lilliard are better, but I don't because of rings. You really have got to be just trying to troll me or something. So now Embid and Lillard are better than the best player in the NBA? I love Lillard. Every time I take to the court I get someone to inbound a pass to me so I can do the Lillard shot that knocked out Houston in the playoffs (I sink it once every twenty tries), but I know Lillard would be riding the bench if he had to go compete against Kawhi for a spot on a team. Embid? My God, don't believe the hype. The guy is nothing more than a goon. And where, besides me, is Kawhi called the game's best? Every NBA-TV analyst states that Kawhi is the best player in NBA. Only player close is Antentokounmpo. Dude, just watch the guy play. Use your own eyes. Leonard is as close to perfection as you can get. He's astonishing to watch.

Apparently you just started watching the NBA this year. Maybe the experts say that today, but they sure didn't at the start of last season or even at the start of last year's playoffs. Also, Embiid is a better scorer and better defender than Leonard. Not exactly crazy. He averaged more points, more rebounds, more blocks, shot a higher %, etc. than Leonard last year. Once again, he's a great player and one of the best in the league, but Steph, Lebron, and Durant are undoubtedly better with guys like Giannis, Westbrook, Harden, Embiid, Lilliard, etc. in the conversation.

Gotta go with Marco here. Leonard has been talked about as an elite player for years. His reputation took a hit when he sat out a couple years ago, and people weren't sure where he was healthwise. But everyone wanted him. He doesn't get a ton of headlines because he's a quiet guy, maybe that's why he's apparently been flying under DSD's radar. Not sure where I'd rank him 1-10 but he's been an elite player for a while now. He's an elite defender, can score any way you want and he was the best player on two different championship teams in two different conferences.

Yeah, I really have no idea where that guy is coming from with this: "Apparently you just started watching the NBA this year. Maybe the experts say that today, but they sure didn't at the start of last season or even at the start of last year's playoffs." That's like saying nobody was talking about om Brady until this year. I really wonder what the hell that guy watches or reads. Kawhi has been touted as one of the league's best for years now. Your post, Rey, is perfect. You even got the backlash Kawhi faced over that injury right. Other than that blip, Kawhi has been probably the most highly praised player over the past four years. Greek Freak is getting a ton now, but Curry and LeBum have both moved down a notch.

If that 4th bounce is off the rim, we wouldn't be talking about Kawhi at all. Although it just would have gone to OT, so who knows.

Isn't that enough for you? Any great play or great team can be diminished by use of the word "if." Hell, anything could be changed with if. Marilyn Monroe would have been just so-so if she weighed 170 pounds. But she didn't. Just like that ball didn't bounce off the rim. It went in.

Twins- Kirby Puckett, Jack Morris, Joe Mauer, Big Papi None of those baseball guys were ever considered the best in their sport. Maybe at their position, you could make an argument for Mauer, but overall? Ortiz? Maybe he’s the best DH but he’s never been the best overall in the game.

Could make the argument at some point during Ortiz's Red Sox tenure maybe but not when he was with the Twins I dont think. Agree on Mauer too. Best catcher in the league at one point but even during his MVP season was he really considered the best player in the game? I'd have to go look but he never struck me as that. As much as I love him I couldnt justify Chipper Jones ever being best even during his MVP season. Best 3B sure but overall player he was behind others who some were juicing but still.

That is the whole reason for this thread.
