Honestly, I’ve been stoked about this nomination but was under no delusion that it was well deserved over any other film of the year.
But I do have to say that I’m shocked it was nominated in a field of only 8 nominees. I thought “Yeah they will throw it that 10th nom” but it somehow not only got nominated, but apparently there weren’t even two other movies that deserved to even get a spot.
I don’t even like... understand that.

Seriously though, those two blank nominations are going to cause such a fucking uproar between fanatics. It’s going to be the biggest argument for why Black Panther “deserved” it’s place. Because the Academy couldn’t even “come up” with two more. What a shitshow of debate this is going to cause lol.

Well on the one hand I don't think it's probably deserved when something like last year's Logan didn't get a nomination or even something like Wonder Woman.
But I'd rather see it nominated than some snobby indie movie that nobody has seen.

I loved Wonder Woman and would’ve liked to see it nominated... but you can’t really justify a superhero war movie nom when Dunkirk came out the same year. Logan would’ve been awesome though. |
