The Hidden and Alone in the Dark have been on my watchlist for awhile. I’ve only seen part of Renegades.

Kinda like Alone in the Dark, don't like any Wishmaster movies, and while I enjoy Nightmare 2 it really is quite terrible.

I enjoy Nightmare 2 it really is quite terrible. I think once you get passed the disconnect with the rest of the series it's actually a pretty decent movie.

I look at it on its own, and I think it's bad. There are some interesting elements, but there are too many wildly stupid things and horribly mishandled elements. There are good things in there, but the sum of the parts is awful.

You could say that for all the Nightmare sequels. I still think it’s the most unique alongside ‘New Nightmare’ (which I don’t particularly care for) & the original.

You could say that for all the Nightmare sequels. I still think it’s the most unique alongside ‘New Nightmare’ (which I don’t particularly care for) & the original. You could, but more for this one than most others. It's also not any fun. And the stuff that makes no sense is more wildly dumb in part 2 than most others. Everything the characters say and do is awkward and unnatural, and in particular everything involving the gym teacher is wildly absurd. It's all so aggressively stupid I can't believe it's happening as I watch it. Also... it's poorly made. It feels like a TV movie of the week. It's mostly really poorly lit in its straightforward scenes. I know it didn't have great resources behind it, but considering the effects are mostly pretty good, it's kind of inexcusable for it to look as amateurish as it does otherwise. And the complete mishandling of the main character is unforgivable. The messaging is so muddled and poorly handled. I know they claimed that they didn't realize the main character seemed gay, and I kind of believe that only because they clearly didn't know what to do with the story or character at all. But how fucking dumb and clueless were this writer and director then? How small was the grasp they had on what they were making? If they had any clue what their movie was about at all it may have been an interesting approach, but it's completely inept in that regard. There are some good moments, some good beginnings of ideas, and I know people like this version of Freddy, but there's just too much about it that prevents any of that from working in am even moderately cohesive whole. Good opening sequence though.
